I would say possibly put an avatar, a sig is much bigger than an avatar, but the avatar can have the same effect without the size.
Honestly i don't think theres really a need for either, but an avatar would be better than a sig imo

i don't think he's suggesting that everyone have a banner in the rankings page
and it won't slow it down even if that.
well how about when your have banner add-ons turned off your sig is there instead of the gatewars.com banner
