Wow,this topic got big fast, lol
I was out of the game for sometime and missed clarkeys "episode" but before I left and since I've returned he has done a fantastic job as a mod, maybe he did something wrong, but he did good before and the people that looked at his application obviously thought that aswell and decided to give him another chance
So for to answer what did Clarkey do to deserve becoming a mod? He did a great job before, yes he made a mistake, but who hasn't? I have no idea how old you are davinci but are you saying you have never made a mistake at your job? Should you be fired for that? or given a second chance?
As for RoKeT, I don't really remember you, I'm not sure when you started playing or anything, but since I've been back you have seemed very nice and helpful, and isn't that what its about? maybe he didn't do some special thing that made him deserve being a mod, but thats not really what its about, it comes down to are they gonna be good at the job, and the people that saw RoKeTs app obviously thought he would, and has he proven them wrong? no, so stop complaining.
how is RoKeT a mod? and clarkey?

The mistake Clarkey made is akin to blowing up your workplace(intentionally), admitting to it, being tried, convicted and sentenced to it. Then going back to work their. Does not compute.
But like I said. I do not really object either.

Re: how is RoKeT a mod? and clarkey?
We will not speak of Clarkey, as it has been fairly well covered by deni (among others) already.
Roket on the other hand we can speak of more clearly.
He was a fairly hopeless user a few years ago, and was very close to earning a permaban. The reason behind that can be attributed to one thing. Acting before thinking his acts through. Posting things he was unsure about whether was on the right side of the border, rather than asking if it was ok. And so forth.
It took rather a lot of patience to even begin to get him to think more on the forums. And even longer for him to become consistent at it.
Some users break rules intentionally, Roket broke them due to not thinking things through. He never got many warnings at once, but he got a one or two every few months or so. He was also fairly sure certain moderators hated him.
Somewhere he learned to start thinking things through. Not sure where. Suddenly he stopped getting new warnings. Over time his warning count started dropping. Sometime during this period, he started applying roughly every single mod application round. Until this last one, he was denied due to his old behavior and the uncertainty about his change. He has for some time proven very willing to help, though also highly inexperienced.
We administrators chose to give him a chance in a section where it is easy for him to learn the ropes, under a GM that is actually rather patient and willing to teach. He may turn out well. He may fail spectacularly. Only time will show.

I must say I'm disappointed, but anyway..
I have been one of Clarkey's most vocal critics over the years, so I hope my assessment of the situation is at least somewhat fair. Before he became an admin, and before his now legendary episode, he was a general moderator. I, as the Global Mod responsible for that section, was his immediate superior. I always found him to be efficient, and to have a good grasp of the rules. If I had to make one criticism, it would have been that he was occasionally a big rigid. Not to the extent that it was a problem, however, and nowhere near as badly as some.
I don't think I would have made him a mod again, but perhaps that's just because of the extent to which he and I have conflicted at such a personal level. If he has calmed down, as he claims, and matured slightly, then I think he'll be quite good. It is a big 'if' though, and I hope he lives up to the faith the administration have placed in him.
I would have to concur with Mordacks assessment of Clarkey. Was he a good mod before his episode, sure. However, giving someone once again the responsibility to abuse the forums and its users again is going out on a limb. I won't speak much more on it other than not everyone deserves a second chance.
Roket, gtho of here. Damn noob. Enjoy your new position and make sure to do some spankings.
Starting with you you bad Monkey! lol thanks bro

This is not the place to discuss my episode. I do believe however that ~Da Vinci~ got the answer to his questions, whether he's happy with the answer or not.

if we solely went after these types of mods, the mod population would be less than half of what we have now, and have an exhausted pool from which to recruit new ones.
anyone who was of "good reputation" and was a mod, has been chased off by unruly members who accused the best of people, of bias, because they were warned.
i used to consider myself one of these people. i had tok'ra come after me. taking abuse is part of the position, it doesn't matter if you're a person of good reputation, or a controversial but efficient worker.
One of the best mods i have ever known, Spacey, was one of Good Reputation. most of you won't even remember him. but he did alot for this forum. he also had a fight with another mod, another mod who believed their way to was the only way. he persevered, but i could tell that incident hurt him. and in this position, either you have thick skin and don't care(an uncommon trait among those of good reputation), or you are hurt by people who choose abusive actions over reasonable discussion.

Not to mention the nonsense accusations thrown against him by Eros..
Spacey was actually one of the most respectable mods, it didn't matter, Eros massed him ingame and badmouthed/threatened him for a "reason" that never existed in reality.

Its not about how you act on the forums, its about who you know on the forums.
I hadn't seen this thread until now..but having just skimmed the first two pages, I had to laugh at this.
This comment alone shows how little you people know of what goes on on this forum. You are so blinded by thinking it's "who you know" that gets you access to becoming a Moderator that is it hilarious.
I know Tetris, as does Empy and Earendil. We are all good friends with him, and Earendil is even a RL friend of Tetris. Tetris did not become a Moderator.
Even so, there was a lengthy discussion about both candidates who applied. It went on for a numerous amount of pages before coming to a decision, and even then it was a difficult choice of who to take and who to pass upon this time around. Clarkey was a good Moderator in the past, and was the smarter choice of whom to take to benefit this forum and in-game community. Clarkey has made mistakes in the past, and he has asked forgiveness about that. RoKeT is in the same position as Clarkey.
Everyone deserves a second chance. No matter what they have done.

With the old admins it "was" about who you knew, and not how you acted on the forums, hence why i wrote, THE LAST ADMINS.

Deep within Noob Cave, you find a strange pool filled with a glowing blue liquid. You think back to what your mother told you about unfamiliar liquids found in caves.
You're pretty sure she said "Drink it! What's the worst that can happen?"
