Reporting Suspicious Accounts

In order to ensure the game remains fair and no-one gains an advantage through cheating the rules, it is cruicial that everyone feels confident enough to report something that they may feel is suspicious.

There are numerous ways to report cheats and I will list them here so that you are able to chose your preferred method and have some knowledge as to how issues should be reported.


1) Post a thread on the forums in the Report Rule Violators section. This is the most common method of reporting accounts. Don't be put off by the fact there are many threads in there awaiting responses, they are gradually being gone through, although may not seem apparent, but they are.

When reporting something suspicious please try and structure your reports with certain specific details. Please make the title of the thread something unique and meaningful. Here is an example.

34628 - Clarkey - Suspected Multi.

The initial number is the ID of the account which can be found in the browser url bar when you are viewing the account in question, i.e. http://gatewars.com/stats.php?id=34628 the next is the Username of the account (only post this if it is not an abusive name/word otherwise you may find you are breaking forum rules). Then a simple description of the issue such as "suspected multi", "script user" etc. This makes it so much easier to find the right thread when looking through the list.

Inside the thread, please try and give the following details, as a minimum:

ID(s)
Username(s)
Reason for suspicion
Dates of activity

Screenshots of accounts are welcome in order to capture evidence, although please try and remove stats and personal details from the screenshots because not all cases are positive cheating.

If you are copying and pasting anything that you see on someone's account please ensure that you personally edit out any offending word(s) to ensure that you do not fall foul of forum rules. You are responsible for what you post, regardless of whether you are copying and pasting someone elses words.

Please try and remain respectful in the thread. All reports are "suspected" until an Admin has looked at the account and deemed it either cheating or not.

One strong reason as to why this detail is useful in the thread is so that if others consider reporting the same thing then they can do a search on the forums first and see if it's already been reported. This saves duplication.


2) Email your report to support@gatewars.com. I have no knowledge how much this one is used for reporting accounts but it will be seen by a game admin. If you don't feel confident reporting it on the forums or the suspected account may be "high profile" and you'd rather not post your suspicion publicly, then you can email that address. Please try and provide the same details as a minimum.


3) Admin meets on Fridays. You have the opportunity to give Admin an ID that you suspect of cheating. Usually if people do this they do it through the private chat function. Please remember that the main focus of these admin meets is to have group discussion about the game and updates so please don't try to badger Admin too much if he doesn't respond quick enough. Often he will make a note of it and check it sometime after the meet.


4) The last, and has been used quite a lot, is come to me. I know a lot of the history of cheats and I can use that to decide what to do with them. I can do 3 things with them. One is email it on to support, two is to bring it up with Jason at meet (if I can attend) and three is I can post it on the forums if you wish. The reasons people have come to me in the past is because either they know that i'd be able to provide some thoughts and recommendations on the issue and also if they don't want to be identified as the "reporter". People have asked me in the past to post a suspicion on the forums in order to remain anonymous, this is something I am willing to do, but only if I feel there is sufficient evidence of wrong doing and not just a personal vendetta. I am not scared of reporting anyone in the game, but will not do it on weak suspicions (most of the time).



We all want a fair game to play and that can only be achieved if people report things. If you suspect it report it. You never know if you have one piece of the puzzle and someone else has the other piece. If neither of you post then that puzzle could go unsolved.

Just remember there is no such thing as too much information in a report, just keep it structured and stay within forum rules.
