Fighting is the real cancer in this game

There are many reasons why this game isn't growing how we would all like it to. All those reasons are just as valid as one another and not one single person or thing is to blame for it.

However, one big problem in my eyes in the constant bickering and fighting on the forums inregards to the game itself.

Over the last couple of months I have noticed a hive of activity in the game suggestions section. This is good because we want people interested and eager in building upon the game and to get this community expanding.It's a very hard and challenging task, and it won't be achieved without effort.

However, I believe that the constant fighting between people in the suggestion threads is killing the progress of this game. Every person, every alliance and every empire in this game will have their own personal agendas and ideas for the game. Those agendas will obviously differ from each other and therefore create opposite suggestions from each other.

So nowadays all I see in the suggestion threads is the big empires arguing with each other, and this is all because they have different agendas in this game and therefore their vision of the direction and growth of this game differs and this results in sparks. People will object to suggestions, either by just saying no, which results in moaning, or they give reasons which get argued and it turns in to stupid fighting.

I would personally like to see new fresh faces and old faces that don't often frequent the suggestions threads to start appearing in them. Why don't they now? There are 3 reasons I can think for why they don't join in these threads:
1) They don't care enough to contribute to the suggestions
2) They don't bother because they feel Jason will just go with whatever he wants rather than the community who play the game
3) Because they are fed up with the constant fighting in the suggestion threads and would rather stay out of it.

Personally I think the fighting is the biggest factor. Take this thread for example: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=184208 I had a good interest to see where this thread would go, but I completely lost that interest after page 1. And I lost that interest because as expected the thread became smothered very quickly with fighting rather than discussing the suggestion or alternative suggestions.

Each side of the arguement have their own views and instead of putting it forward and explaining they just accuse the otherside of trying to implement changes to benefit them and no-one else.

I haven't created this thread to single anyone out, nor have I created it to start a fight. I have created it because it is a big concern as to why the game is not growing in the direction that we all want it to, because you all just fight in the suggestion threads and it is no wonder that we don't get any changes that we want.

I'm happy for a General Mod to lock this thread if they want as I'm doing it to get my point across. Stop the fighting and try and work together for this game, because it is you that is blocking it's growth.

Or maybe it's the clear lack of a Game Admin in that area......many of the things people are arguing about could easily be quashed if Admin turned up from time to time and say things "I like that idea" or "that's never going to happen"

Once people get a notion of what type of update is both possible and probable then it will help fine tune the debates.

Like any debate you need a "Chairperson" with the lack of this we just keep going round and round.

I agree with the bitter arguing all over the forum isn't doing any good for what's left of the community.

Personally I feel that anyone who puts up a suggestion for game improvement should list it in the format of:

• Brief overview of the suggestion
• More detailed description of the suggestion and how to go about it
• How they see it improving gameplay/the game
• Personal reasons for wanting the update

The last item I think is the most important because it'll cause updates to be more well thought out rather that a case of, "I can't attack this account and don't wish to risk the resources to try it" to more a case of, "I want this update, it benefits me in this way."

I have no problem with an update designed to improve a person's account it is human nature after all to want better than we have but at least stand up and say it don't try cut down someone else's achievements.

In short I think HVE should just stop ruining the game and admit that SS looks fat no matter what dress he wears

Number 2 and 3 from Clarkey's post are mainly he reasons why I'm severely decreasing my activity. I hope something gets fixed, realistically speaking but.. Oh well.

i strongly disagree that wars reduce the activity of the game, wars are essentially, however not balanced or dis honorable wars , the wars for dominance with low hits are quite dangerous for the game as they tend to bring the low game aspects to everyone.

as for having new players then first game shall be bit welcoming to them , second old players have tried always to bring friends and many times to to bring back those who once quit.

in my personal view the dishonorable ways of playing that i mentioned and the excessive cash used are the main factors the game goes down. nowadays its a struggle to keep playing, because of the addiction, the time and cash invested. except this category the rest dont bother much.

You have two separate things going on here Clarkey.

1, The issues with the suggestion threads. I agree they dont seem to be productive. A posting structure and set of rules is a great idea as Dmonix said above.

2, The fighting im afraid is unavoidable. We are all guilty of it in any topic. Even you Clarkey are abrasive at times appearing confrontational. The lot of us have been here a long time and take to many liberties when communicating. The wars , There are some great battles and sour battles going on at the moment. Personally Im very entertained and impressed with the current war and thread between TL and DDE. Big alliances are recruiting , Gifted players are reaching out to new players. As you said people are participating in the suggestions thread. So I dont agree with this as a factor.

I think the bigger rift in game is between the Mods and the players. This is where I see the arguing. I think there has been many threads recently where" Talking to the mods" has been a failure. I dont think anyone is at fault individually, and I dont have a clue how to fix it. What I do know , for me its discerning and unfriendly and forces me to reconsider why I even read it or try to participate. If this how the long term players feel, I can only imagine how it looks to new players.

I would suggest evaluating the relationship of mods and players and address the posting practices and actions for those who represent the professional and elite users of this forum.

I think there should be a clear set of standards to avoid criticism.

I just woke up, so I'll make it brief. The main three reasons I can see why suggestions are never put forward that matter anymore is because..

1) People who suggest threads receive criticism rather than constructive criticism or no reply at all to benefit the idea.

2) If the user has suggested we implement something and is from The Dark Dominium, normally, The Legion will be against this and vice versa. It will turn into a mud slinging match and spiral out of control because neither side usually suggests anything of true merit that does not souly benefit their own alliance.

3) People are ruining the game with horrible ideas that receive no backing from all sides of the community because they are too busy fighting each other, and going to Jason to implement terrible ideas that only benefit themselves and their alliance.

These are the top three reasons I have seen that have put this game into the state it currently is now, and it only gets worse and becomes more frequent because the only people that remain active are those of whom hate each other with a passion.

Personally? I await the day when both sides will be able to stop throwing stuff at each other and attempt to benefit this game for everyone and not themselves, but there are certain individuals who will never stop trying to implement bad ideas.

On the 2 topics about capping things, admin should have stepped in and stopped them, he stated in another topic that hard caps would never happen, but anyone who did not read that topic will not know he said it, and thus the arguing from all sides continues in them topics.

Both topics are in completely separate areas, i agree a game admin who actively posted ( he may read them ) but he should post more to acknowledge the topics at least.

Alot of the arguing has got to do with groups of people not able to control the Ego, and when you get people from these groups in the same topic, NO matter what the topic, it will descend into rapid **Filtered** fest, and at the end of the day, the only people left on the forums or ingame will be the Ego warriors who couldn't control it, as they will have pushed everyone else away from them.

Why doesn't everyone stop trying to fix the game every time something doesn't go right for them and instead play it?

Jeez, the amount of time and effort you all put into to making up these suggestions could be used to farm the naq you need to do whatever it is you want to do. And then you'll be happier because you too haven't gotten stuck in a mud slinging match!

Well that should be fine. It's HIS game. He owns it and runs it. If he wants to make updates, that's his decision. I just don't think we really need any of this nonsense.

I mean shoot, what ever happened to the time when if someone was doing better than you, you said "good job" and tried to catch up? Just because someone isn't top dog right now doesn't mean the game should change for them. It means they need to invest more time to make themselves stronger or figure out a way to utilize what they have to the best of their abilities. It's not like you can't do anything with less levels or a smaller mothership or a smaller toc. You just have to plan your attacks better and think a little more about what you're doing. Or you have to be quick and can still mess up a big dude. Sure it's hard, but this is a game. It's not supposed to be easy street all the time.
