I find this whole situation disappointing. A horrible government or not, what these people are doing is inexcuseable. period. I have no respect for a view that encourages them whatsoever. sure, the government may be disappointing, but the fact that so many reasons for this riot have been cited, CLEARLY shows that it's not happening for the right reasons - if there was such a thing as a right reason. I wonder how many of the rioters will complain afterwards about the taxes, council rates, etcetera needed to fix all the things they destroyed?

i just hope the police grow some balls. this will keep happening otherwise. police brutality? puh-lease.

While I felt shocked when I heard of the riots, it didn't surprise me. While a big part of those rioters are just plain thugs, I wouldn't be surprised if inbetween that group are people who seriously mean it...
Face it, most of Europe (if not all) has become pretty right-wing past decade (or even longer for some countries), rejecting or at least hindering non-natives (so to speak) and others who don't fit the ideal of how society should be (healthy, straight, finished highschool or better, got a job etc). I notice it in the Netherlands, but also in plenty of other countries in Europe: together with politicians who decide for the people whom chose them without listening to the voters, the European political wish to become 'more one' and the flight to the right-wing parties which cause rejection and/or hindrance of those 'not ideal', masses are getting frustrated - all for different reasons. Personally, I am afraid society is falling apart, just like happened in the US.... into a relative small but wealthy group, and those with or without a job who have barely income.
In other words, I notice a tendency to go back to the situation of the beginning of the 20th century when it comes to work and living... and that period ended quite a lot with riots.

If it was me, I would of got the army involved, replaced bullets with dye paint and attack the rioters. Then, those who get caught, have to clean the city back up (like convicts in some of the states)

Or, strip them naked and walk them through there city with signs over there heads stating they are scum.
(Most likely the Human law rights folks will be jumping up and down, but I say stick them in the line as well lol)

Those living in England think the goverment is Kak, and they may be right, but if you dont like it, leave. I did not like the winner of X factor but I did not go rioting!.

They don't seem to be political protesters against "Big Brother", if you ask me.. (picture from the dailymail) It's more like a bunch of thugs, like I said already countless times.

Most of us know that it isn't political. It's blatantly obvious these are mindless thugs jumping on an opportunity.

My post had nothing to do with justifying or making excuses, I said clearly these were criminal acts, criminals need to be punished. What I tried to explain was simple cause & effect

Large numbers of youths bred under government subsidy via benefits that encourage young people to have children they would not & could not afford to have without subsidy.

Over-crowding, unsustainable population growth, no jobs or housing or hope for the future for these youths.

+

Constant media & advertising indoctrination saying we can have, and need everything, all these gadgets & brands & other material things to be happy.

Crime to get things that cant be obtained legally, and occasional events like these riots/looting.


It's nothing to do with politics either since most of these youths are either to young to vote, or dont bother to vote, and even if they did political parties with any hope of getting into power all have the very similar policies.


As for police response, like I said the UK tried hard asses riot response in the 80s. Those that dont learn from history are doomed to repeat it.



Again my sympathy goes out to the people caught in the middle.

Every working person in the country will end up paying for this through our insurance & taxes

But well, what can one do against these mindless bums around Europe whose best sport is to [metaphorically] shoot themselves (well stab to stick with UK style) in the foot over and over again by pillaging, rioting, robbing, sacking and God knows what else? Not much, trying to explain them stuff would be a lost cause: it would require them to have minima of understanding/reasoning, which they obviously lack...the only skills they have is to start a fire and throw stones. That, I agree with, one of the causes of the problem...the subsidies attracts the parasites like honey attracts bees. Except it's an insult of mine to bees to use them as a metaphor to compare with those yungthugs. For this, I apologize.

I wonder how effectively the fight against "Big Brother" is going. I heard they are now forcing citizens to strip to rob them off their clothes. Way to go for the rise of a Thug Big Brotherless nation!
