My entire town is surrounded by fires

And it is **Filtered** windy, windiest it's been since Spring.

I have photos, will upload them at lunch. It's pretty bad. Thousand homes plus evacuated

For context the fire is about 20 and in a heavily populated area. It's only one of the five can fires.

There are five fires in Bastrop, several more surrounding bastrop and still more state wide.

The National Guard has been dispatched to Bastrop along with 30 different agencies to help fight the fires.

Several homes have burned down and several hundred have been evacuated.

Last I heard the fires are still not contained. 0% containment is what I've been told.

The photo I took is of a fire several miles from here. It dies down and glares back up.

Earlier reports have said that winds are reaching 30 MPH.


That's what I know. I think things are being blown out of proportion. The fires are bad, but I don't think they're that bad. Earlier reports were a thousand homes had been evacuated. Now all I see is 300. 14,000 have burned. But that's **Filtered** all in Texas. We have ranches bigger than that. The good news is they have been preparing for a big fire. The bad news is that we've been in a severe drought all summer long and bastrop and the areas surrounding out are woodlands.

Update. 400 homes have been reported destroyed, the fire spans 16,000 acres is about 16 miles long.
