What does it take for a brand new player to go from nothing to ascension in terms of time/effort/in-game currency/turns etc without real currency? Suppose I start a brand new account - how easily can it be done?

Then just wait for 1k....

(ie: use 3 MTs to acquire turns, do a bit of raiding/farming, and you'll have enough to be in gnr on the turn change )

It's been a while so forgive me if I'm a little slow on the uptake, but how does someone manage that? The GnR range was set at a certain percentage or the total number of players right? Surely it would take more than 5 minutes of raiding to produce decent enough stats?

Raid and farm through your original set of turns, spend it properly (500k troops in attack, defence, 1m spies @ 28, and pump the rest into MS), and you will be set. Wait 14 days or so, maybe farm a bit more, if you wish, and voilá, you are there.
Don't raid too much, and you won't need to get FSS first.

There's no point in training any units for income or buying more than 999 UP, as you will make a lot more farming, and make yourself less of a target. Since you wouldn't raid much (just to replenish possible losses while farming), you'll be fine and cheap when ascending.

Raid defless people who have above 1.3mil uu out, and stop when you have below 36-37k uu per hits. Declare war against the ones you raid, well preferably the inactive ones.
Don't forget about Asgards' hologram (sometimes you get nothing from a hit against them).

G&R range is 1,609 these days. It's pretty easy to get to it and probably keep it, so really it should only take 3 weeks from starting a new account to your first ascension.

I agree with Juliette, don't raid too much over the amount you need to ascend because otherwise you'll lose too much when you do ascend. Otherwise you'd have to trade for SS first then wait another 3 weeks.

However, there's one thing Juliette didn't quite mention due to a change in starter accounts made a while back is that all new accounts start with 2,000 RAW UP, therefore a bit over the required 999 for first ascension. I'd suggest not bothering to raise it because you can just raid the amount needed.

Ah yes. Don't buy UP at all. And when you're past the first ascension, don't build past your UP requirement for the next one. It'll lower the total costs of your ascensions dramatically.

I'd say ask Stickman, he recently came back and started a brand new account so he'd know more better than anyone who has posted here from recent experience since updates may have changed a few things.

I know you can't buy SS for the first two weeks and tied in with that you can't steal planets for that period either, it stops people creating an account, taking a planet and deleting again.

So I would suggest ask Stickman (He's my officer in game and not using the recently created account since we bought him a shiney new one)
