Hey everyone since this whole server down thing and all that it got me thinking

People will automaticly shut this down but please read on before you do that!!

i would propose that admin starts a second GW server...
a complete replicuar of what we have now interms of rules and stuff (with stuff scaled down..)
a fresh start!
i think that new people coming to this server of GW have no chance to catch up its just not going to happen for them.
a new server would be a fresh start for everyone!!

admin could invest and a bunch of advertising and set it up as a big deal a new server of the GateWars!
send an email to every email address ever used on GWs and try bring back all the old players to the new GW!
there are lots of MMORPG sites out there and we could all hit them to get lots of people involved
i reacon this server will encourage new players to join as the Top wont be as far away as it is now!

wouldnt it be great to have a fresh start new ascended server everyone on a level playing field no unstopable alliance
this would test all players real skill of playing the game not just what they have got over time !

this is just an idea i reacon it would be a very big succuss for the GW community

tis very simialer indeed and i dont think people would like a complete reset of this server because of the $$ spent
but a new server were everyones on the same level would be great
and a better way to keep new people

Why would admin invest in something that has no quantifiable RoI?

Besides, what you are suggesting is that we all start playing a second game, with the same power differences that we have now, basically proposing that we start playing the same game at the same levels (sure, a factor 10 or 100 smaller, but relative to each other equal to GW_Main).. who would even want that?



Also, SS is right. To retain new players, we need to start being nice. Not being weak, or sissy, but nice. Sure, you can mass a newbie. But when said newbie posts on the forum, you don't start **Filtered** about that. You teach them to be better opponents, and in the long run, everyone will be better for it.
It's really simple. But it's so much easier for people to attack each other verbally. Sometimes I am disappointed. Then, I remember this is where we've been going as a community since 2005, and as a society since 1943 (the year order and discipline were defeated and we as humans fell victim to the paralysing poison of 'liberty', 'democracy' and 'equality').

one of the main reasons this came to me was because all the other big mmorpgs have many servers.
and i reacon that if they bother it must have some benifit!

All I'm saying is that if you have 100T power and I have 1T, and we reduce all values by 1000 like you suggested, I will still be 1/100th of your power. See what I mean?


Regarding other MMORPGs, image/flash/visual-heavy MMORPGs require various servers for load balancing. Besides, the idea there is to create a dynamic environment which follows the traditional MMORPG path, but provides people with alternatives once one server reaches the 'post-apocalyptic' phase of the MMORPG lifecycle.

i dont quite understand what you mean by this...
my idea is that everyone would be on a new account so therefore there would be no difference in power at the start...
thought it would devolop over time ...

i think it is never to late to advertise this game tho...
there are heaps of those MMORPG sites out there that jason could put this on and then give ingame resources to those that vote it!
this would bring more new players in hopefully making the server better and hopefully we as a community and be nicer and welcome them...

I'm fairly sure an annual cleaning of that type of account is already performed on main server.

Re the suggestion

Origins server tried this to a point, people wanted to roll back the clock and apart from a short lived nostalgia it failed.

Reset of main server would kill the game, almost all current players who have invested time and/or $$$s would quit.

Starting a new server is pointless unless major updates were introduced, basically a new game loosely based on the old one with all $$$ advantages removed. Of course for all $$$ advantages to be removed it would either have to be a non-profit site/game run by someone purely as a hobby, or a subscription site/game run on annual fee's. Both of these would draw players mostly from this game/server ( rather than new players since the SG franchise is dead and copyright issues prevent significant plagiarism ) and kill of admins profits so he will never do them.

It has a little bit of merit, but like has been already said.. It's been suggested before only varying slightly.. and the simple fact is nobody wants to start fresh, if they did... There could find another game just like this and play that. Or quit their account and start a new one (as some have)

when i want a game i type in MMORPG brower games and bam i get hits for all theses MMOs
and gatewars could be on top if jason put these on there with a naq gift for bumping/voteing them!

Well I did try another game called Evony for a few weeks, I linked to that from an advert in this game, and in Evony there was an advert for SGW so I think admin must have set up a mutual advert deal of some sort. BTW dont try Evony, it looks good but you soon find out it's all about the $$$s same as most, only difference is $$$s all go to the site instead of player to player trades.

Never seen adverts for SGW anywhere else, if you ask most players they joined SGW after it was recommended by friends, thats how I came to play and I got several other people to start playing, but personally I have not recommended it to any friends for 2-3 years now due to bad updates and $uper$ized accounts dominating. Like most I only stay for the friends Ive made not the game itself which lets face it is for the most part rubbish lol
