anyways, the scenario we described was given to us by an red cross first aid instructor. It was what he would do if exposed to needing an Heimlich-maneuver while alone.

perhaps you should attempt self-Heimlich-maneuver?
Find a soldid object with a decent edge like the back of a chair. make sure it wont move easily. Throw yourself down on it, impacting about a fist or so above the navel.

That might cause you to throw up. It certainly will hurt. A lot.

There have been situations where I felt the need to vomit, but wasn't naturally..

I also have fairly minimal gag reflex, and ramming my fingers down my throat just doesn't do it usually, but I find if I move them around and "tickle" the back of my throat, eventually I get the desired effect >.>

I don't know if you tried that, but from reading your post I got the impression you just stuck your fingers in (god that sounds awful)
