Just this past week I was pm'd and warned and posts deleted for what was deemed spam..BUT...hundreds of posts of WORSE spam or REAL spam remained thus my pm's and ugly replies were just and after seeing the conduct in this thread even more so.

I think the disdain goes both ways. Many of the forum staff are sick and tired of the generalized complaints of abuse with the lack of any constructive criticism with specific examples and reasoning. So they no longer take the posts seriously, because nothing has changed and there is nothing they can do or act on because nothing substantial was ever posted. The forum is upset that mods don't take their complaints seriously and resort to spamming the topic. Well, there isn't much one can say to, "stop mod abuse."

It's an endless cycle until people on both sides of the conflict are willing to compromise and work together. Mods need more information in complaints, and the forum needs to know the mods will take those complaints seriously (which, as I said, requires a serious complaint).

Your complaint is clear. Robert's complaint was like going to a complaint place, telling them to "Stop them!" The proper reaction would be to ask "Whom", or "What problem" in this case.. but you can understand that being a bit difficult when a 'case' is presented in such an empty fashion..

And there is no need for "ugly replies" in any case. A simple "there are other bits of spam: *link here*" or something similar would suffice. Also, please note that, even if you think something is spam, others may not necessarily agree.

One last thing.

TL;DR: a small amount of off topic is okay (2, *maybe* 3 posts), but more is not okay. Once a mod asks you to stop, you should stop.

These are up to interpretation. One person may see a post as spam, whereas another intreprets it as on topic. The same applies vice versa. So yes, "spam is in the eye of the beholder".

There is a difference between replying to a mod in a thread, and replying to a mod's official actions/post within a thread. The latter is spam, the former is not.

Also, the interpretation of the rules is not a new thing. It has been there forever. Each mod has a different opinion when it comes to the gray area within each of the rules. Some are more strict about the letter of the law, others are more lenient.
