And I don't feel like it.

EDIT: Besides , I don't even know why this topic
got created in the first place.

It was created because rob3rt had an issue with the modding in a specific area whereas certain posts were removed by mods or a mod and others remained thus creating the question in many of our minds "WTH are these people doing" and thus the answer which is clearly evident "WTH ever they want to do..and the thread was created to address some issues in regards to "suspect modding" or blatant no modding after watching the staff's body of work over many many months culminating in these "mod" discussions and threads and discussions for approval popping up. The bottom line is this..you all let the forum be a complete garbage dump for months, then you strive to tighten things up..but you end up policing areas that should or could have leniency (to a far lesser degree) and you allow serious discussion sections to be a public toilet that does not ever get cleaned... and now the end result of all of it is STILL not even thinking about "what can i do to make it better" but instead seeking peer opinion in a rack of threads that you will ride and use that as your justification for doing or not doing what you do- or have done. NOT 1 SINGLE MOD to this time has stepped up and said.."I made a mistake, my bad' No..attempts to deflect blame and responsibility at whatever cost is the order of the day all day and everyday.

I can see how the way in which some moderators instantly began to diminish the importance of the thread quite disappointing. However, the initial post wasn't helpful either. If he'd outlined a proper argument, and explained his particular issue, then people could have responded to it. A blanket statement about the 'abuses of mods' isn't screaming out to be taken seriously. Both sides could have handled it better, in my opinion. Interesting thread, though. Debate like this should, I think, be encouraged.

You have a point, but shouldnt the mod's assume 1stthat there is an issue that needs addressing rather than assuming its a sand box? And you have to consider also language, and what is the proper way to outline an argument? Is that something hat NEEDS to be done?

The same could be said about users posting spam in other topics (war threads), shouldn't users be addressing the issues within the war, rather than spam.

Nope, not the same context.

Nope, the general user is in control of nothing except his or her account functions. When we can moderate things..like an alliance thread or an announcement thread then that applies or another serious limited type thread,,,,it should never be up to us to mod a thread, but when no action is taken on anything unless a report is done..and even then its pick and choose based on a mods preference of the one reporting..action does not get taken or we get what this simple thread has evolved into.

No, it is not required that there be details or proper argument. It is also not required to give a detailed and proper answer. But the likelihood of both happening improves exponentially when a serious question is posed. (I'm not saying the question Rob3rt asked was not serious, but that it was not something that could be considered seriously).

But you are required to follow rules when posting. Which includes not spamming, just like mods.

why not? it was posted in a serious discussion area, not a spam area and was immediately trashed..and one of the main points here is you all tryig to deflect he fault back to someone else rather than manning up to BS. And until now has rob3rt been contacted? No he is being blamed to cover some asses.

I'll admit that my post made a bit of fun at the semantics of Rob3rt's post, but the post really could have been taken two ways, especially if (like me) you are not privy to which instance/catalyst the post is in reference to. I'm not responsible for how the others responded or how this thread is modded. It would have been nice to know what form of abuse was being done and where it was being done; simply saying that it exists and should be done away with doesn't help anyone. I'm open to making a change, which was why I made the suggestion that we each have feedback threads. It was my hope that it would open some public discussion about how we do our jobs and how they could be done better. Most of the staff seemed to think it was a decent idea, so we're giving that a shot. Hopefully, some good change comes out of it.

I can't tell you if Rob3rt has been contacted. I figured that wasn't my place since his post doesn't necessarily point to me, and I have had absolutely zero contact with him. Ever. So if another person on staff has contacted him, that's between them and him.

You all can relax now, I have said all I intend to say on this matter. I am curious to watch and see what if anything comes of it and if adjustment in attitudes and philosophy take place.
