Noob help for Ascending - Replicator

I have read a lot on the boards but am still confused about Ascneding. I just attained 1001 G&R points today but it is telling me that I am not ready to ascend. My question for people who are replicators...when they say I need 1,062,349 untrained units are they talking about "Unassigned Spiders"? I have 2,025,000 untrained bots (mercs). I am confused at the terminology, and wondering if I truly have to have over a million "Unassigned Spiders"?

Forget about the mercs - they're useless. You need to untrain some of your miners and you'll have enough unassigned spiders.

Remember to send some of your stuff off to a friend if you can do? (Not sure if you have full access to the trade between players yet?)

That is another thing that is confusing me, it let untrain some of my miners but only so many at a time. Is there a limit? Couldn't I potentially reassign as many as I need to Ascend?

yes, normally when people ascend they untrain everything they don't need only keeping the resources the need to ascend and send the extra to a friend to hold because when you ascend your account resets. You will lose everything but planets, MS, and lifers.
