Old Man Affy is always cooking a brain cell or two, many times it is useful, but often it is for naught.
Is the "Trading" of Slaves, or the practice of having one Active player Raid, Raid, Raid acquiring an enormous amount of Slaves, and then leave themselves Defenseless for another Active member to "Recover/Trade" those goods from said player by the multiple repeated, Raid, Raid, Raid and acquisition of Slave UU now to become the new "Feed"? I cannot be the one to make this distinction, for I am torn from my own admitted behavior and the debates of bygone Eras.
I (and a Team/Alliance of players) once assisted a long time Allie and friend to totally dominate an Era by trading NAQ in a concerted/planned effort of teamwork and cooperation among active players (to differentiate this from teamwork among partially or Inactive players). That player so totally overwhelmed the Era that he was brought to bear by us, the Quantum community in the Forums, as we have occasion to do. I believe doodie-head Affy was one of the few who openly admitted to helping this Player (mainly cause of my long-standing theory that any Player, ANY player, can dominate an Era with enough help and concerted teamwork, especially in a War game that includes the options of Officers AND Alliances, groups of inter-related cooperative titles and groupings that to this old buffoon, would seem to suggest the concept of 'team' play, and that by true Teamwork, any player could dominate an Era even overcoming those who spend $$). We proved that point, well, too efficiently and it was verbally chastised to this old man that:
"Any active player that sacrifices their OWN final ranking or standing to largely do nothing but Assist another player obtain a higher Final ranking is performing actions that are akin to 'Feeding' itself" (This may be a summarized paraphrasing...)
Essentially, the Quantum community seemed to agree CONTRARY to our theory that Teamwork, among Active players where one sacrifices TOO much to the other player was frowned upon. Later it was given a name, and deemed completely reprehensible and became something to be "self-policed" hence the eventual development of the "Galactic Attack Logs". Hey, those things didn't just fall out of the air, all the extra coding, and additional Admin work was provoked from something, some movement, some request, of the will of the community.
Well, that debate will obviously be tested again this Era. Just take NAQ and replace it with Slaves, and replace Farming/Feeding with Raiding/"Slave-Trading" and the debate begins anew.
Now don't get crazy Affy wrong, I am judging no one, lest I be judged for thinking and theorizing (and believing that "Team" play no matter what form in a War game format that encourages Teaming up as Officers and Alliances) and abusing a similar strategy many, many Eras ago that was later deemed distasteful, but is now being resurrected in a different form. I am just going to be a VERY interested bystander/observer in the Era of "Slave-Trading". I once apologized (not necessarily completely willingly) to the Q Forum Community for being involved in a tactic that later was found to be TOO much of a Team advantage to keep the integrity of the Quantum Era competition intact, and when faced with that I took my medicine and agreed to abide by the wishes of the majority (i.e. the Vocal Majority of the Forums, or many may say the possible Vocal Minority, since the majority seem to be the apathetic non-vocal non-Forum contributors...
)I will watch and listen intently, and once again see where this time honored debate goes. But, I will judge none, nor apologize for my own past actions or my own theories again. I will only try to mentally stimulate the Forums with my experiences and my wisdom, which at times seems deranged and mentally unbalanced, but, in this debate and question I remain respectfully serious and wish to provoke thought. For the Quantum game becomes what we seem to mold it to be here in the Forums, and drive it to be so in the game.
(All deference aside to recent debates here in the Forums that the rules of Quantum are written in Stone somewhere and never decided upon here by the will of the Quantum community...)
Let the question be posed... Is "Slave-Trading" the new "Feeding"??
'Bad Affy' Sez... Oh crap... Well, there it is, brain-fart and all!

) so obviously I enjoy the aspect of how getting to know players in Q if both fun and beneficial, and how this spills over into the Main server and plays into the success of the Quantum game.
