Greetings all,
I am curious as to what the prevailing opinion is on the best way for an alliance/alliance leader to choose the 2IC & 3IC? Should they be the alliance members that contribute the most power to the alliance? Or should they be the closest friends of the alliance leader? Or should they be the most diplomatic members? Or should they be the oldest members in the alliance? Or should they be chosen by some other merit? Just curious as to what the other alliances out there are doing.
Also, how often should the 2IC & 3IC be changed?
How to choose 2IC & 3IC ?

I think the answer to this question will differ a lot depending on who answers it, as every alliances has it's own way of operating.
For an alliance with a leader, 2ic and 3ic command structure, you would usually want the 2ic and 3ic to be the people with the best leadership skills, and those would not change very often. In an alliance with a HC based command structure, the tag holders have less importance, so whoever is the most active can hold them and they can be passed around a lot. In TÅF for example, it is not uncommon for tag holders to change every couple of hours and they can be from any number of trusted members. We like to have someone online at all times with one of the 3 leadership tags.

Most power is not definitely the way to go. Though it's useful if at least one of the ICs is a powerful player but leadership skills are a lot more important.

I was just going to suggest drawing straws, but your idea is much easier to do.

For me, those in my alliance.
if I didn't trust them, I wouldn't have them in my alliance. Simple.
And rotated depending on activity.
