I would say, keep the current awards as they are (including the two sig awards), but why not bringing back "Trader of the year", "Avatar of the year" awards? Trading is an important part of the game, regardless of being trading for $$ or for resources. As for avatars, I don't see why awards shouldn't concern avatars too, as they used to be. Some memorable avatars out there that are commonly used to identify a person when you browse quickly a page.
Maybe add a "Newgrounds Player of the year" depending on how the project goes.

I think the HoF rules aren't bad as they are. Regarding awards, I think the short delay between nominations and votes is a good thing, especially now with lower presence of members in forums. Maybe announcement ingame a week before awards along with forums, just so people are informed. One week of nominations, three/four days in between with ability to still add people to HoF during this "break", then a week of voting.

Originality deserves focus. Copying someone's pre-baked answer is undesirable and irrepresentative.

Quality over quantity. Been here 84 months? 1020 posts required or no participation. It really is not that much. There are 300 people on this forum who would meet THOSE criteria (for 7 years membership).. and most people who actively engage in the forum net an easy 300 in their first year.

bring back Posthumous awards, its nice to honour those no longer with us.. though I am aware there have been a couple of cases of miraculous resurrections ie Miss4Tune.

New Allaince of the Year should be just that, not an old alliance rebabged

I like Jim's suggestion of an ingame message and link to awards.

and yh self nominations should be out too,

maybe raid or farm of the year award added.. and most kills on ascended.

These are community awards, so the community should be involved in planning/ideas etc.
I'm going to post this up now, while its all fresh on our minds and I'll probably bump it again around october/november when we start actually working on them (so we can all look back at our own opinions!).

Please try to keep it constructive, the only way to make something better is to work on improving it, not by tearing it apart. So everything constructive in this thread will be considered and talked about for the next awards, lets make the next set awesome!

I think a new rule for newcomer of the year should be, That if someone gets nominated, they will get there IP checked by all other accounts on the forum to make sure they really are a new comer. Not some returning player trying to pretend they are new.


A new award can be Best Forum Fighter of the Year.

@ SS, I already gave you my suggestions as discussed during the 2011 awards

But on a side note I would say, have you noticed not many people wearing the awards sigs this year including me ? Wonder why, because they are rubbish, compare them to previous years awards sigs and see the difference, this years look like cheap tat in comparison.

I will wear my HoF and FS awards with pride when I can afford to commission a decent sig to display them in.

What about those who no longer play the game? Might cause some commotion with only some people being required/asked to donate naq.

Perhaps a month before, put an announcement out for donations for payment for sig creators?
