Everyone is a future-teller. (i.e. everyone's 'prophetic' words can be interpreted one way or the other.)
And fake. (Everybody lies. q.f.t.)

So yes, both.

Quite sure he sniffed the occasional eucalyptus tree, I imagine. ;)

Re: Michel de Nostradamus, future-teller or fake?

Most of his writing is trash, people look for similarities to events and some odd bits can be interpreted as prophesy.

If I made hundreds of vague prophesies Im sure a more than a few would come true over the next couple of hundred years too.

As for everyone seeing the future, yes we do to a degree, our experiences to date and study of history allow us to predict the future with some accuracy.

On technological advancements, well you would find more accurate and detailed predictions in sci fi stories, look at old sci fi and compare to modern tech like mobile communications, computers, weapons, medical advancements etc, many of the things people dreamed and wrote about a 100 years ago are here today.

Re: Michel de Nostradamus, future-teller or fake?

The accuracy of a prophecy depends on:
- temporal distance (i.e. how much time between prophecy and 'fulfillment')
- vagueness (i.e. how specific is the wording of the prophecy)
- wishful thinking (i.e. the desire of the interpreter for the prophecy to be 'true')
- susceptibility to cognitive biases (in both the audience and the interpreter; f.e.b.n.e. "the bigger the lie, the more it is believed")

Edit: On another note. Arsenal 1 - AC Milan 0 6'. I prophecise they will win. :P
Edit2: See? Arsenal 2 - AC Milan 0 25'.
Edit3: Yea. Arsenal 3 - AC Milan 0 43'.
