I believe that I'm not a scammer.
When I scammed people, I was 15 years old and immature.
Now I'm a little older and I can say I've been back in the game for sometime now and haven't scammed anyone. I even tried to repay something to those I did.
I have even bought resources for $$ and people can vouch for me I don't do it anymore.
I always state, when I want a Co or an alliance, that I did these things in the past. I don't think they should be forgotten, just people just move on from these things.

Re: Scammer(s)
No one who is saying that the scammer who has rehabilitated themselves would think that way if they themselves were scammed. Just saying.
P.S All past, present and future scammer, whether they are 'clean' should leave the game forever.

Re: Scammer(s)
Let the first one with out sin throw the first stone I say!!
Every situation is different.
Liars, thiefs, murdering someone, scammers , child molesters.
Once you intentionally murder someone or put a child in harms way for sex then your crossing a big line of no trust what so ever. Even a thief can be put into this.
Liars and scammers can be trusted again depending on the severity of what/how it was done.
You can ask for foregiveness its just up to the person/s to give it in my opinion.

MEZZANINE wrote:Forgiveness and trust are very different things
If someone once scammed, changed there ways, apologised showing genuine remorse over what they had done and repaid those they scammed then I would say YES they could be forgiven and accepted back into the community, counted as a friend or ally.
BUT
Would I trust that person in a trade or to hold resources for me ? NO, or certainly not right away, the doubt in the back of my mind may take a long long time to fade.
Trust takes a long time to build and only a second to destroy.
Kjarkur wrote:If someone makes up for their mistakes and is on the right path, shouldn't we encourage that ? Instead of pushing them back to their old ways because nobody will trust them again?
The good thing about mistakes is that they can be fixed and made up for.
I think it shows great character for someone to admit their mistakes and be prepared to make up for it - and therefor become a better person.

A well known phrase comes to mind here:
Two wrongs don't make a right.
Although some have mentioned scamming the scammer to help the original owner retrieve their account/resources/otherscammedthings. I'd see this as OK. Otherwise, as Clarkey said, it is just sinking to their level and would be seen as wrong.

The Fable of The Scorpion and the Frog wrote:A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion says, "Because if I do, I will die too."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out. Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from his back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.
"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"
Replies the scorpion: "I could not help myself. Its my nature..."

Re: Scammer(s)
I haven't really read the topic much, aside from Seaanyboy's post so I can't say much but this:
Seaanyboy is a good chap, he's very honest and I wouldn't even know that he scammed someone if it wasn't for the fact that he asked me for a sig. In his message he also told me that he had scammed someone a while ago, which is why he knows he can be deemed as someone who is not to be trusted by people, so he offered and sent me the whole payment upfront, before I did any work at all.
Now I wouldn't even know he had scammed someone, if he himself wouldn't have told me. So as far as Seaanyboy goes - I'd trade with him again in a heartbeat like with anybody who hasn't scammed anyone.

The important thing with ex-scammers is their honesty, openess and regret. Seaanyboy has shown all of this and i never think of him as a scammer anymore. Others sadly have never shown these things and will always be regarded as a scammer in my eyes until they do express this.

I've always found it amusing that people take this attitude in what is fundamentally a WAR game. Sure, it's dishonest, and I would never scam anyone myself, but its a war game in which you try to dominate everyone else. This sort of thing should be taken for granted. Not everyone is nice.

This is true, and some see it as purely a war tactic, which is also true, but when it involves people's real $$ then it's not good at all. However, I guess you could take the view that if you spend your own hard earned cash then you take the risk.Drakodan wrote:Ĕɱƿŷ wrote:P.S All past, present and future scammer, whether they are 'clean' should leave the game forever.

If there wasn't a $$ aspect to it then I wouldn't disagree with it so much because of the fact it's a war tactic.

Thanks you Neimenljivi, i'm glad to know that at least my slate is starting to get wiped clean. I was young when i did what i did. Now i'm not so young. It was stupid. Thanks for the support.

Thanks you also, Clarkey. Good to know, someone who disliked me so much for what i done is even giving me a chance. Much appreciated.
I do believe scammers shold be given a chance to prove themselves, without mines, i wouldnt stand a chance in this game.

That's a good point, I was thinking just about ingame resources. You could argue that when its $$, its legitimately fraud.
