Re: In game time

I thought it was on 25th march that the clocks changed (UK anyway). No issue if It did but would of been good to have been notified first as messed up a mkt turn and mass times, especially for those not on the game time zone.

I believe it's always been like this, the dst is based off of NA times/dates. But yeah, a small notice would always be welcomed, lol.

perhaps this is a new suggestion for next year!

A notice in the command center or on the index that daylight savings occured :)

**Filtered** next year, what about when the clocks go back again. What happens if one minute you go on PPT, then the next minute the clocks go back an hour? Does it remove your PPT or does it not get affected?

good question.

Considering PPT is supposed to be a countdown, I imagine it wouldn't be effected as it is merely counting down the 2880 minutes rather than just coming off when the clock strikes 12.

But then again, me and my silly logic :D

2880 minutes since when ;)

Section Admins - who will be 'in charge' of the section in question. They will be responsible for the overall feel of the section, the setup/structure, and most importantly the community/users in the section. This will incorporate the old 'ombudsman' role. And insofar as the Section Admin is responsible for the users, they are also responsible for the high level mod behaviour towards the users.
So -as a user - if you have an issue with how you are treated, rules, bans, whatever --goto the section admin... They are there for you!

There is no 'reporting structure' in this setup -- tech, mod, and section admins are all on equal footing, each with their own (somewhat overlapping) responsibilities.
Mods report directly to the mod admin, and indirectly to the section admin for the section in which they mod.

Re: In game time

No, not a good question. The Unix time never changes. This is the beauty of the standard clock. You can add an hour, subtract an hour, hell, you can divide the time by 2.. but the Unix time is eternal and unchanging.

So to answer Duckie; 2880 minutes since x from 1 Jan 1970 00:00:00 UTC. ;)

Awww ...

a timestamp on the server on the moment its placed is always relative to the clocks used in ones home.

Or are you running around with a watch on your wrist indicating gatewars-time, and you count back/forth everytime you check your wristwatch :smt110

*chuckles* Fair enough, although the timestamp from the moment it's placed does not 'hop' an hour ahead and back. So yes, while at the moment of placing the timestamp is relative, from that 'relative' point onward there is an absolute progression.

Although I must admit that Gatewars has the occasional hiccough when it comes to the timestamps, those hiccoughs are not related to DST. At all.

What's playing with you is the Canadian government decided to move the forward time change earlier in the year and the winter fall back later.
