And those functions I like best. Also, it is relatively moddable, so you can make apps for it.

I find the IM function of Skype rather poor. Skype is good for what it was designed to do: voice and video calls either one on one or in small groups.
MSN is better for IM, TS or Vent is better for large group voice calls.
