Brutal Horror movies

I am wondering...what's the reasoning with watching them?
I mean, it's not even like 300, Pathfinder, Conan 2012 or Immortals which feature brutal violence but with a background of epic-legendary wars/battlefield, meant to show the battles the way they were, violent. But the scenes certainly don't represent the majority of the movie, thus if you don't stand the few bloody scenes here and there, you can skip them or look away.

In these brutal horror movies (not just the average zombie movie, I mean horror movies where the likes of Farmhouse or House of Wax are considered to be "moderate" -which they aren't, but compared to the movies I refer to, they are sort of-) it's all about torture, sadism, suffering for the sake of that, psychopathy, all to the extreme. It's thus not even the kind of movie you watch on a rainy/thunder day on TV/cinema with your friends to be scared, because it's not just scary, it's utterly disgusting and disturbing. More tending to make you :smt078 than scare you the "fun" way one expects from horror movies...
Why are people interested in movies like Saw, Hostel, etc...? :-k

Some have a fascination with the mix of human anatomy and absolute depravity.

Re: Brutal Horror movies

Yes why do people watch movies where actors pretend to torture other actors, when instead they could play a game where they pretend numbers on a screen are soldiers, slaves, spies and slaughter them in the billions

Torture stuff dont interest me, but all movies, TV and games are make believe so whatever floats your boat lol

Re: Brutal Horror movies

I think the paying customers from hostel are a good indication :-D

Certain people simply like to be freaked out by blood and gore.
Its something you don't see everyday ....

Hostel 1 and 2 were awesome :D Freaked the **Filtered** out of me the first time I saw it.
Man, accidentally slicing off those fingers, with a chainsaw I believe, made me jump up and go WHHHHAAAAAAAA

ghehe, to each his own ... I know quite a few people who loved Jaws ... and not because of its catchy tune :P

Re: Brutal Horror movies

Movies are not scary end of.
Some may make you jump, usually due to sound effects or someone suddenly appearing behind someone, again brought on by sound effects, but something making you jump i don't consider "scary".

Many Japanese films in their day used to be scary, films nowadays don't go anywhere near scary.

I will hold my hand up and say I watched all 8 Saw movies, however, I only really enjoyed the first one. It was unique in many ways from any other film in that genre, and in my opinion it should have stayed a one-off film.

Immortals was absolutely **Filtered**, well for the majority of it. It was just another one of those Zeus type films trying to be big and successful.

I enjoy brutal horror movies, I mean it's not real, it's not going to turn me in to a brutal killer, it's not going to happen to me in real life (fingers crossed) so what harm is there in watching them.

Some people absolutely love romantic comedies and some love brutal horror. It's all down to the individual. You may ask the question why people like brutal horror movies but if you don't like them then you will never truely understand someone's reason for liking them, you will just accept their reason.

I watch them purely for the entertainment.

I am a fan of shark movies, that includes Jaws from 1st to 4th movies. :P

Probably. Also, of the battle movies I mentioned, the brutal fight scenes aren't exactly my favorite part, it's annoying when I think about it.
