demi gods on ascended

not really read up on the demi god because I never thought I could afford one but now I have one that appeared for me..... Do you get one automatically after so much activity on ascended or have I broken it ?

They randomly drop from doing certain activities, like attacking people, getting attacked, massing, destroying military, descension attacks, etc.

The more grandiose of your actions, the better the demi and the better likelihood a demi will drop for you.
