the way I see it all these large companies get to have their time and make billions and then eventually fall into decline. Be it government influence, be it product innovation, competition etc.
if you look at where microsoft was during the late 1990s and 2000 etc they were untouchable to the point that the US government had to bring them down.
the current powers such as Apple and Google will dominate for the next 5-10 years and then who knows we go back to sticks and stones
or the government again will bring them down (patent wars)
ps as for mobile device platforms by far android is more popular for the simple fact is they can match up to alot more manufactures, appeal to different market groups at all cost levels and apps/games etc cheaper/free.
however I agree KJ apple products just simply work, feel good, look good and solid all the way through..
