For the love of...............
Let's assume, since it is a comparison, that they are all of equal size, strength and skill. (a bit like soldiers in TGW).
Scenario 1
Well, obviously the man with the friend will get help from his friend (call him the man's super soldier (super soldiers contribute to power) - there are 2 men (the man and his friend), so he has 2 units of power.
The other guy attempts to attack with his $100 (like naquadah - a resource) - but it causes no damage. he thinks about his weapon factory (like UP - a resource), but it is 10 miles away - so he has 1 unit of power (himself).
2 units v 1 unit
Which means that the guy with the friend wins.
Scenario 2
The man with the $100 dollars wonders how he will get out of this. a 4th man of similar build walks by. The first man offers this new man $50 dollars (naq = resource) to help him fight the other 2. The man accepts.
Now we have:
2 units v 2units + $50
Try as they might, they cannot use the $50 dollars effectively enough to inflict damage on the other 2 men.
Stalemate (the $50 adds no power).
Scenario 3
This time, 2 new men walk by and the man offers them $50 each to help him, they accept.
We now have:
2 units v 3 units (assume like naq the $100 disappears).
So the man has used his $100 resource as a means to an end to create more power to better his opponent.
There are many other scenarios - but you get the basic idea.
