talking bout participation where are left less then 100 players is a luxury.
the galactic council idea started as a team of only experienced plaeyrs who d try to fix some game mechs but turned out to be a wide noob system. everyone wanted to have a say there while their income/outgoing logs were empty.
for me it failed due to being open to the noob class of players, no offense to any.
many ideas have had a fight just because they would put an advantage to one side rather then be constructive and affact all sides.
remember Woofy this game had two main coalitions for long time. Cold Wars.
also suggestions were not emphasizing how they affect the game in general from the small to the heavy player , they were mostly ideas of players that wanted their skill/strength more in focus.
to address a suggestion one shall take in consideration all game aspects and not only his way of playing.

Re: What is wrong with the game.
There are some suggestions up right now that are good.
The blood realm, the attack def ratio, the covert initiating war..3 key ideas from 3 different parties. I suggest we focus on those and see if we can't get a package together for some good blood wars scenarios that can and should divide the player groups whereas members of GW can compete within thier means and against other members of similar account status. I would also suggest that we focus more on the pros than the cons, meaning don't kill it because it may be exploitable..we can work the exploits out during testing, but we really should get those planes off the ground.

I understand, and as others have pointed out, most players here screaming for change have been here years. The power diff has gotten outrageous... We need new players.... Since many that are here and wanting change are known and respected (or hated) in the community ARE the big players with super accounts, we need to come up with ideas that would "hurt" our accounts and post those. NOT the ones that are going to give us (as big players) an advantage. We are going to need people to drop the bickering long enough to actually work together and present viable ideas to the admin. Getting rid of the bickering is the key part to it all.
Jedi~Tank wrote:There are some suggestions up right now that are good.
Agreed, and we need people reading this thread to go and participate constructively.

Re: What is wrong with the game.
there ar eno new players just players returning to some activity tis game has not seen a baby boom since he show ended.
to have an idea worth posting one shall know the game to certain lvls that puts u in the group that has enemies. as u said players need to leave apart their feelings so they work out a solution. no easy to do but what makes it hard is that the admin team is "temporary unavailable" or not giving a crap of u. this hurts them and turns them against so they push harder and harder the game.
u dont want a nice game then i go farm those countless farms around and build a nut account to hurt anyone niceee lets play now lol a new bullie in the house.

Great, another great observataion. Lets give a possible solution to admin.
Instead of us saying we need to advertise more and leaving it at that. Give admin some idea of where to advertise. Some ideas on what to put in it "Remember your favorite SciFi show of the 90's? want to join a game with a similar theme of roleplay?" or whatever. Just try to add more detail to it than "advertise more". I think he already knows that part..

I agree also that we tend to feel that we are not being heard by admin. Well, maybe we are or aren't the point is, if we just give up, then we might as well just quit.

I have a good marketing package ready to launch that I will gladly share, but my goal is to see some changes that will benefit new players before I move on it. To recruit people to play the game as it is now probably wont result in many staying with it.

So what are your plans to counteract high covert lvls and the need to ascend? The biggest obstacles to newcomers are: 1) the need to ascend 20-odd times before you can even be competitive and 2) when you finally get there, people sab you out with c.41
First one takes six months, the latter takes the rest of their playing career.

this game is not for new players , even thsoe who takes a break of 6-12 months finds them selves out of the game cuz ppl always want to push the limits while leaving gaps in the system.

Re: What is wrong with the game.
I've finally answered the question! I originally said:
"What is wrong with the game?"
The answer is simple!! Jason left it plugged in!
No, Woofy is right, as with anything, you need to identify and analyse the problem and then suggest a method of tackling the said problems. Once this is done, you need to start again and constantly evolve.
So first of all, there needs to be a common and direct approach to these issues and then the implementation of their delivery. Woofy and Jedi yesterday gave me a little inspiration. We need to start a new movement, people who want to contribute pro-actively need a medium to go to, to start this. I don't think it's this forum. These ideas need to be viewed in full to the general community and contribution in full as opposed to sporadic and when it suits them. I see JT putting up several ideas, people come and criticise and then leave.
Most importantly, a project like this needs the backing of Jason. If Jason doesn't want to improve the game or want to take on advice, is there any point of lobbying for improvements?

I think he left it on intentionally there Field Marshall
The game is still running, that should mean something.
Updates are being applied, and games running parallel to this one are maintained as well.
Various suggestions over the years been applied in attempts for improvement, thus there is backing.
Admin made a series of updates since the beginning of this year, and a fair few of them came directly from players involved in the game..
~~~~~~
A large gap between starter accounts and seasoned accounts, that is at the core of many appointed problems. Newcomers feel beaten by the mere thought of the amount of time needed to catch up in a universe were a seasoned account can level you in no time.
There is perg, but its ridiculed.
Looking closer, it might not just be the enormous gap between players, but by the potential to get flattened by a full grown account without any real chance of retaliation within a good years time.
(yes money could be used, but lets keep the free2play idea alive for a tekst based game)
Recently admin should have started some development to lower a regular occurring covert power gap between an high level unknown and players who are ascenders whom, expected, will not buy over level covert 32 or 33, I'm curious how that will work out.
~~
How about something like having a realms for groups of ascension level, and each realm has limits to which covert levels they allow?
something like
realm name - allowed ascension level - max covert/acovert level allowed in realm
Pergatory : none ascended to LG+1 - max lvl 20
Mortal realm: none ascended to ancient god - max level 30
Feudal realm: LG +3 to Unknown - max level 40
The great unknown: no limits
Re: What is wrong with the game.
one of the issues of this game is the ability to replace huge loses via cash trades out of the game system or heavy farming. in other word u lose 400mil units and u can replace them in 1 week farming of 50$ cmone is ridiculous. this ability has allowed game player to build monsters of accounts and abuse the game so far.
with this issue alive no other fixes can stabilize the game.
Re: What is wrong with the game.
Cheating, Cash Trades, the lack of tact. This game use to require skill, now it requires a master card or visa card. The power is concentrated in the hands of a few. It's always been that way, but, there was a hope of changing that in the past. Now it is bleak and hopeless. Someone can spend months building and get it destroyed in a turn. Before being massed meant something to everyone. Now people can build a 50t defense and have it rebuilt in a few days if they wanted it to be rebuilt.
The major thing wrong with this game is the mentality of the people playing it. I keep coming back to this game, and I don't know why. I think I like watching the implosion.
Re: What is wrong with the game.
I'll collate peoples thoughts:
There are four things wrong with the game
1. The impossibility to hold your own against others (which falls prey to the inability to catch up to a place where you can hold your own). NG was released to bolster new people, should be interesting to see if it works.
2. We have been doing the same thing for 7 years now, there have been minor additions that spice things up a little, planets, this new gnr market etc. but it's so spaced out that it seems more of a fix than anything. Nothing really substantial has been made to add a new aspect to sgw, everything that has been created underpins the war-play, there is nothing else to do, you build to war.
3. This thing we have been doing for 7 years now hasn't even really reached a decent standard, wars are subject to ignorant/stubborn leaders and so they tend to continue forever even if the parties involved are both rooted and going no where. The blood realm was introduced which was a good idea but it was executed poorly. The forum still hasn't been tethered to the game.
4. Tactics have been destroyed, something a turn/text based game requires. Some people still need to use them just to stay afloat in battles, but otherwise covert levels and MS blow them out of the water.
Without the exclusive star gate theme we need a new foundation.
