There are four things wrong with the game
1. The impossibility to hold your own against others (which falls prey to the inability to catch up to a place where you can hold your own). NG was released to bolster new people, should be interesting to see if it works.
2. We have been doing the same thing for 7 years now, there have been minor additions that spice things up a little, planets, this new gnr market etc. but it's so spaced out that it seems more of a fix than anything. Nothing really substantial has been made to add a new aspect to sgw, everything that has been created underpins the war-play, there is nothing else to do, you build to war.
3. This thing we have been doing for 7 years now hasn't even really reached a decent standard, wars are subject to ignorant/stubborn leaders and so they tend to continue forever even if the parties involved are both rooted and going no where. The blood realm was introduced which was a good idea but it was executed poorly. The forum still hasn't been tethered to the game.
4. Tactics have been destroyed, something a turn/text based game requires. Some people still need to use them just to stay afloat in battles, but otherwise covert levels and MS blow them out of the water.
Without the exclusive star gate theme we need a new foundation.
Hardly.
This game could easily roll theme less if it wanted to, the sg theme just hooked in another community.
I for one didnt play for the sg theme anyway.
Games rarely can be left alone, they ALWAYS need changing and they ALWAYS need new things added, to keep players busy anyway. Just look out WoW and RS, they add a crap ton of quests every so often, add many many new features every month, and usually find some sort of celebration, like Christmas or Easter, to provide a means for a new experience (which is time limited).
