What would be even more amazing is to start from the ISS. Or the Moon-Earth L1 Lagrangian point.
Though acceleration from both (more notably the latter) would obviously be so very low that it might take a while before you actually get home.

Was watching from 3 hours before...as someone who has done a couple of jumps, the awe of it all is just...breathtaking.
Seeing the curve of the Earth whilst falling for 4.30 mins as Mach 1 speeds. Absolutely insane.
Guys got balls. Big ones.

Re: Freefall Jump from the edge of space...
Lol, a little rough, but very nice.
I was asleep during the first hour of build up XD. I tuned in when he was around 60k ft. The suspense was killer! Waiting for him to hit his mark.. and watching a couple of the little issues and snags unfold, such as his visor heaters malfunctioning and the fact that the balloon didn't seem to want to stop rising when they expected it to. For a bit it seemed like they were either going to bring him back down.. or something was gonna go wrong on his trip down. Glad nothing did!

The "victory pose". I love it

The bit for me is when he finally got there, the guy said "Ok, we're getting serious now", disconnects his oxygen and sits over the edge 128k feet high. Made me sick just watching...then standing and preparing to jump...
Just insane, I would love the opportunity to do something like that. Maybe one day, it will be a regular sport!
Crazy clever advertising by Red Bull yet again, might have cost them a tidy sum but they had the attention of millions at the time. Then being the #1 news article on every website since. Clever.
Makes you feel overall, fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

We're all pretty small from that high. hah! I'd say it was a good marketing ploy by redbull.. whether or not they'll see their money's worth out of it.. I have no idea. That stunt could NOT have been very cheap.
