Well Jack, if you 'feed' someone ingame, with both you and said person on the same server, (and i believe it is not against the rules) it's yours and the persons business. If I am right, and Teyla made it her business, then it is no different from kid A giving kid B a piece of candy, but not kid C, so kid C beat up kid A. It's very childish.
"You know, there are some words I've known since I was a schoolboy: ' With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie as wisdom and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on we're all damaged. I fear that today..."

Re: "Feeding"/Selling Naq, Serious Issue?
It wasn't against the rules until era 26, after that it was against the rules but there was no real, constant enforcement of this.
However the point was that some argued selling naq for $ is feeding and feeding was illegal. Selling naq for $ was considered a grey area even by admin who allowed it until era 31 when he, after considering all the stuff that has happened mostly in era 30, decided it is against the rules the same as feeding and appointed us, game cops, to monitor all of this and enforce rules.
The game is better now and pretty much everyone knows that if I hadn't been selling that much naq, creating such an imbalance in the game, and if Teyla hadn't started a petition to ban selling naq for $, after which I also pushed the fact that it is no different than buying USSs so if selling naq for $ is banned, then the resources the USSs and FSSs give should also be nerfed (because the ban to sell naq for $ can only be legitimized through reasoning that it ensures everyone to stand on equal ground and USSs and FSSs giving a substantial bonus goes against this - so it'd be basically saying - you can get a huge advantage by buying directly from admin, but you can't get any advantage by buying from anyone else) none of this would have happened. So I think all those who sided with Teyla in that particular occasion, know why it was necessary that I continued selling and all those who sided with me, know why it was necessary that Teyla started the petition.
The massings that Teyla and her friends made during that period only influenced on the price I was selling at, and a few people being massed, but had no real role in how other things (like admin's decision about $-influence) unfolded. The only reason why those people were massed is that Teyla wanted me to stop selling naq for $ as she thought no good would have come out of this short-term imbalance.
I can see only one con and a lot of pros with this rule. The only con being that the people who can't acquire FSS/USS by themselves (may it be whatever reason), are at a disadvantage because they first have to buy MSS in order to use market, however admin did give every active player a few eras ago the option to get a FSS for free.
What are the pros of this? Those that win the era actually have to know how to play, can't buy their way to the top and can't get friends to win the era for them etc.

Re: "Feeding"/Selling Naq, Serious Issue?
So you guys are saying selling Naq for cash is feeding? You say feeding is giving Naq without the other player losing anything? Well as a FYI, the people who are receiving Naq ARE losing something. They are losing 2 things, it's called reputation (They are paying to win, so loss of respect and possible other things, friends/alliances/etc) and cash that they could be using in real life, as Jack does. And if you guys didn't know It feels like **Filtered** when I don't realize the hole in my pocket clicks the mouse for me. But really, Teyla and the others should not have gotten worked up.
This is a game, it means entertainment. Now sure P2W could make others jealous or ticked, but it doesn't ruin their chances for having fun. If a player masses you, like I was on my older account, then I was all entertainment (I was Lord Tikshi if anyone remembers). If I buy Naq from Jack (I won't not on this game, there aren't cool flashy things, neither am I competitive. My game account is roleplay. I don't even fight), I'm not ruining anyones game. The only game I could possibly be ruining is someones demand for the top dog; and as far as I know, there are no top defenders, if you catch my drift. Now now, strong, over powering 'pirate'-style people are O.K., up until it gets old. By old, I mean they harass a player enough there is no reason to do anything. Majority of people, if you are over 17, do not have the time to waste on a game like this. Even I have been known to not sign in for a week, understanding the consequences, but need to get my work done.
Teyla's action make me laugh actually. She gets jealous and childish that there might be another top dog (Because in this game experience doesn't make you strong, i.e. armies don't level, Naq is how powerful you are, which isn't realistic, so I don't see why people are pissy that people get Naq for out-of-game reasons), and for that fact, does she roleplay? Her mindset is absolutely nothing like Teyla. From what I have seen Teyla only worries about her loved ones. If they are not hurt, then others' business is not hers.
Jack, you should be allowed to do what you want to do.
FYI again, I was thinking about giving Naq as well (For free). My -game- account is actually my -roleplay- account. It's like meshing a RTS game with your roleplay profile for realism. I have this big of an army... 'refers to the truth as his base has this much of an army.' When I get (attacked), most of the time I lose because I'm going for defense in a hostile area (Rank 900, lower defense compared to the attackers army). What happens is I was away on business (here), and my compound was assaulted. But thankfully, my soldiers stopped them from harming the civilians, though the attackers settled with bashing open the resources warehouse (You can see the opposite if they (raided) me).
In the first week of the game, I was under hostile control, meaning if I tried to use the naq I got from my workers the guy was going to raid and kill my people. Essentially I was giving it away. Essentially, it's no different from what Jack was doing, but neither person were unhappy or harassing.

What, do you mean Ascended versus regular? If Jack is selling Naq to someone on the same server, I think it should be okay.

There are several games.
Main, Ascended, Quantum, NewGrounds, Origins, (Battlecorp is offline), (Chaos not sure of status).
This entire ordeal you are speaking of occurred on Quantum. Which has nothing to do with main at all
Well holy shat on me. I was early to the party but the lights (in my head) were not on. how do I get to Quantum? And still... if he isn't cross server trading, why is it against the rules?

Re: "Feeding"/Selling Naq, Serious Issue?
Have you read my longest post?
I've explained there how and why it is against the rules, as well as what led to my actions being considered as illegal. So I advise reading that post again
About me doing what I want to do - I've always been doing that. I would still have found some way to sell naq for $ if admin hadn't nerfed the amount of resources USSs give and thus making money's influence on Q far smaller. Since he made $ influence on Q being substantially lower AND made sure that rules are being enforced - my goal (and the goal of many others), for which we've striven for years, has been achieved.

Re: "Feeding"/Selling Naq, Serious Issue?
I ... might be interested in Quantum. But the thing is I understand the whole feeding thing, I just don't see the reason for it to be illegal. But admins can make any rule they wish, and I don't really need to question it. But my statement still stands. Teyla wasn't an official of any kind, and she harassed Jack for trying to get a new guitar
Edit: Wait does Quantum have resets? Oh! Oh oh oh! Yeah, feed = bad. Not interested either, hate resets, it really forces the competitive aspect. I just like the mechanical system to make your own race.

Re: "Feeding"/Selling Naq, Serious Issue?
The rules were put in place because Admin realised the detrimental effect of users selling/buying massive amounts of Naquadah in a small, contained environment like Quantum. In Main, most of that is cancelled out by the relatively large number of active players; but in Quantum, the resetting nature and smaller player pool make any outside influx of resources (except the limited amount admin provides to those who purchase directly from the game) have such an influence as to render farming useless to a majority of players; $ provided too high a modifier in the success rate of any player. (While wholly acceptable that it does affect said modifier, it is not acceptable in the numbers that plagued Quantum for a while.)
Whether you 'blame' Teyla for alerting Admin to the situation in game, or whether Admin was notified by another party is irrelevant. Calling anyone childish for properly assessing the economic state of the game in its contained environment is equally - if not more - childish, and displays a serious lack of either interest of knowledge of GW economics (all branches).
Consider thy wrists slapped, King. To the stocks with you!

Wait what? To the stocks? I actually had nothing to say with Teyla alerting admins. Iwas saying it wasn't Teyla's business. Neither do I still see a point in making it illegal. Then again, competition and PvP got old too long ago for me to have any care for the thing.
EDIT: As I recall, Teyla started getting pissed about Jack selling Naq for cash, so she storms in and spouts disrespectful names and diminishing pride. <-- that is childish. She came in randomly that wasn't her business. As am I, but I am welcome to the fact of this topic be closed and my mouth permanently shut on the topic. I am requesting a go over of the situation (which entitles business, but as said, I welcome the fact for the business to be taken away at a Mod/Admin's leisure)

glad u noticed quantum reset. thats why feeding is detrimental, why play a game you have no chance of winning when its the same few ppl buying and claiming to buy naq in stupid amounts u couldnt farm in a legit way in a month, or even get from 4-5 fss?
Now everybody got a fighting chance so blow me if you dont like it, if u think i make you laugh i'll give you something that'll tickle you silly so pls do let me know if u got a problem with me, I have alot of pent up agression to air cos i have nobody to mass anymore.
oh and FYI anybody selling naq or feeding and claiming to buy was targeted, not just jack, u wouldn't know that cos you were not here.

Quantum resets. Feeding is agreed to be a no. Jack was not attacking the community, he was trying to progress his own knowledge that we don't know for, maybe for a band or something in college. You harassed him and the players encouraging his advancement when you could have just went straight to the admins, but instead you feel you should use your might. That is exactly why PvP is stupid in any condition. The person who is always on top demands to stay there and if there is a single slightest threat in any way shape or form, doesn't even matter if it's minor, pride comes in. No, you did not act top dog, but your implications showed through, especially with your smart allic act.
Let me reiterate, I now know Quantum resets and feeding is a no-no. But you, as well as others, do know Jack did not do it to fuel a fight or make you an enemy. He wanted to advance himself in some other way out-of-game, that wasn't hurting anyone. His offering of Naq, as he said was giving back. He was doing a kind gesture just to be nice, which in turn people were nice to him.
My only problem is your character, mannerisms, and aggression. It comes without cause, nor reason. It comes because it can. This kind of behavior is old, and should have stayed in high school.
Edit: I must extend my deepest apologies, however. The bit about me laughing was to how quickly you erupted upon Jack. Whether you believe me or not, it was not an attack against you or anything similar. It only reminded me of the swift judgments people made against me back in high school and it was... 'old times' as they would say.

Re: "Feeding"/Selling Naq, Serious Issue?
I find this subject very amusing
From what I gather, this was jacks campaign and he succeeded on his own and he would have, petition or no petition. So basically some no-name looking for a reason got involved to release her aggression...Why not get therapy in RL? It can't be healthy to get so mad in a game
I've been there, doesnt work out. Anyways Teyla was it? not even ranked in legends, don't see how any of this was her business in the first place
