Best alliance of all time?

Mayhem - Although a superpower now, i don't think they were infront even though existing since the stone age. Had great individuals in the old days, have some now, but never really pressed their mark on the history of SGW, so this one is gonna be out aswell.

Both of those statements are very misinformed. Have you been dead for the last 5 years?

I would have to say The Legion (after the merger of The Foundation - The Legion)

There was no such thing as merger of TF and The Legion. We did however took some players in after the war.
For instance Robe, who was hunted down by Omega and had a "bounty" on her head. She asked the HC if she can come to TL. While some were not ok, me and Blahh said it was.


Seeing what she has done for this alliance while I was gone, I am positive we made the right call. For that I will be forever grateful

It was just combined from the time i played before i came back and now. When i played in 2006/2008 i never even considered Mayhem. They were around, but nothing special.

It was just combined from the time i played before i came back and now. When i played in 2006/2008 i never even considered Mayhem. They were around, but nothing special.

Probably because mH was locked in big wars in 07/08 and wearn't exactly at the top of the rankings, but those that went to war with us knew what we were capable of.

2007: The Legion Empire went to war against Mayhem, Ascended Empire Union and a few other smaller alliances in what was known as the "Zion War". Or as TL said "Barbarion war" After a few months, The Legion won..

2008: At war with TAF for several months at the begining of the year. The same month that ended this happened: The Legion Empire, Tauri Alliance Family and The Order signed a defensive agreement known as "The Janus Pact". Mayhem originally agreed to join TJP, before switching sides.. On May 5th MaYHeM and our training alliance ChAoS joined Omegan Empire and became Λ MaYHeM Allegiance, taking high level TJP info with us.

May 28th Omegan Empire declared war on The Janus Pact, in which would later grow to become the third server war FUALL vs. Task Force.

(We were "Dismissed by ETL" from Omegan Empire shortly after this war ended in 2010 [ROFL, not really exactly how that happened but thats the public story lulz ] )

I remember mayhem from the "Nothing Special Days." I have to give mayhem a lot of credit for being around for so long. I remember the days of DDE being Nothing special, and that dates me.

Any top alliance conversations will include OE, DDE, and TL. I remember when the DBD came to be formed, the precursor to the legion, and it was an amazing time in game. There was a lot of politics and fighting wars meant something.

TA has also been around forever and they have to get a lot of credit.

Honorable mentions go to UTA, EPA, Crystal Force, Order of Chaos, Esker alliance, THe order, Dirty Dozen, Ascended Empire, Warlords of Britain, Ascended Generations, Aeon Kings, Asgard Order, Nemesis, FAHQ, FAHQKD, Dread Knights/Lords, The Magnificents, Hive and a lot of others I may have missed.

Some alliances may not have been as powerful as OE, DDE, TL have been over the years but a lot of alliances have left their mark. It is interesting to see the rise and fall of powers. The game is ever evolving, and it has been fun to see.

Proud to see many people think of or name MaYHeM in this thread. Afterall I gave a couple of years of my life to that alliance . Congratz to the current MaYHeM crew to keep it up and running (I just don't have the time anymore to put so much time in this game).

I think it's hard to say who really has been the best alliance up un till now. Close call between a few, each have had their impact on various fields.

If I really have to pick one, I'd have to say Omega. They were by far the best alliance in game in my first two years I was playing. It could just be my perspective but since then there were always 2 or more alliances who 'dominated' the ranks.

DDE is by far the best of all time and to this day.

My 2 cents....

- OE is certainly a contender for this. They have had a few down problematic times (and seem to have one now again - it's always during big wars that OE has a little or big crisis it seems), but they have made an impact on the game which is unmistakable. Especially EtL has made such an impact which still leaves gigantic traces (or crates, depending on your point of view) in the game. If I remember correctly, the first alliance which used a 1-hit massing policy and also during a couple of years infamous for acts of random massing. A reputation which now has moved to DDE but the reputation of OE is better in that regards then DDE....
- The Legion. Despite being one of the 'younger' alliances of the contenders, it has already made an huge impact on the game.
- Tauri Alliance. One of the oldest parties there is, and especially last years they've become a force to be reckoned with. One of the few top alliances which is more diplomatic then aggressive based. Of course, they will bite when provoked, but they're less hostile to outsiders then most other so-called 'top alliances'. An respectable and old alliance.
- DDE. I remember the time DDE wasn't a top alliance (about may 2006). Around june 2006 or so DDE (under leadership of REK, and despite that I didn't like a lot of his actions, you must respect him for how far he has brought DDE) joined the GA which at that time consisted of OE (Omega+Alpha at that time), DD and EPA (if I forgot one alliance in this list of that time, feel free to correct me). After that (I don't know whether OE/DD/EPA helped DDE a bit or not) DDE started to grow massively. Somewhere around the end of 2008 DDE consisted of about the structure they have now, plus and minus some alliances. They didn't topple OE when it came to amount of members, but DDE started to be a force to be reckoned with.
Several things have happened during the period between then and now, and to be honest - I can't say DDE is the 'best' alliance. REK has brought DDE to a good point - feared and strong. Jedi-Tank and Deni however have overdone things. People are at their guard for DDE, certainly. But I'd call the DDE of those days rather 'infamous' then 'best'. Inspiring fears in (possible) opponents always works (see the old days of OE), but OE at least roleplayed aggressive outside of the game but were mostly a friendly bunch to other alliances if you didn't intentionally step on their toes.
DDE however, destroys and insults anyone they come across and/or don't like. Which is COMPLETELY different from how OE acted.
DDE under REK - would have been an contestant. However due to the acting of DDE the past 2 years - it is not.

To be honest, I can't choose between OE and TAF when it comes to 'best alliance of all time'. OE has unmistakenbly made the most impact, but it is in intervals a bit to be honest. While TAF has made a lot of impact, but that only started to really manifest halfway the game a bit, so to say.

Nice post. DDE under REK was a force to be reckoned with in those days from the start to 2007 indeed, during 2007-2008 under Deni and JT specifically in tne server war 2 we began to pull away and be dominant, post server war was a challenge due to lack of interest and the decline of gw members but we remained dominant, hit a slow spell mid 2011 but regrouped and rebuilt 2012 and are still dominant. DDE is the best, just ask the membership.

DDE & TL. Easy. After that would be TAF, some amazing talents there and specially organizing and building up an empire. MH is a great survivor - true fighters.

I think DDE has proven over and over, that it bounces back stronger then before. DDE aren't considered the usual good guys but we have on many occasions, stepped up and protected smaller alliances and fought against what we considered wrong.
Good is also just a point of view.

REK did a great job, but it's JT's leadership abilities and Deni's wisdom that's the reason for DDE being the force that it is. They are the core of DDE - along with the amazingly loyal warriors of the Dominium.

The pre JT DDE IMO was the best DDE. Respected and feared it was. Housed some really awesome people. Sure they were asses at times but nothing like the balloon headed jokes they have now. DDE mentioned something with REK. He had a way of balancing things.
