TOC usable in Tournament 9?

Sol,

Alltough Tournament 8 hasn't finished yet (i'm kicked out though, meanie Mathlord :( ) and a good idea and work it is/was, I would like to ask if it's possible to integrate a tournament round where TOC is of importance. I realize this probably will need extra coding but I think it could be fun.

For instance you have to kick people out of the tournament by descending them, alltough people would not be descended in main, just kicked out of the tournament. In stead of being able to do a hit every 3 hours, you can do one every turn to speed things up.

Could be interesting as long as it incorporated other elements nicely. You can only begin descending when they have less than a 5q defence or something. Just using two stats for an entire tournament could be boring, and smashing your TOC against somebody requires considerably less finesse than carefully planning how to mass, defend, HA, DM etc at the same time.

The beauty of the Tournaments so far is that they provide a (more-or-less) equal opportunity for players to fight/kill/win. (You can tell it works, too, when you look at the fact that actual teamwork is required to win.)

TOC is -by its nature- a fixed value = not flexible like the planet counts and weapons. What would you suggest be used to 'equalise' the playing field?


(I have a 3.3B TOC myself, *grin* so you can see I am not asking this out of some Calimero-mindset.) :P


Jim: So you would rewrite the rules for descension? No longer the 10x defence required in strike? Effectively making the balance even more skewered.. building a defence is one of the few defences low-TOC players would have. ;)

Well, a good CS combined with a good personal attack level gives a huge advantage for the current tournament set-up(every,smart, person uses destroy to kill of someone). So I think the TOC advantage wouldnt be that much different for the two stats that are favoured atm.

Also, I'm just suggesting this for a variation for one or two tournament rounds. As I said, Sol is doing a great job and I liked the idea of a race war and using the entire server for this tournament.

My TOC is rank 68, not the finest around but it's ok. So I'm not really suggesting this for own benefit.

haha so your the one who is 1 rank above me Rod :D

Also sounds like a good idea BUT even if you got to do a descension hit every turn some people would seriously have to be hit for like 1 day straight unless a top TOC was hitting them and if they login ONCE in that time it is for nothing. Bit of a weak point otherwise it is a good idea :)

And just a question Rod how many AT's do you think a TOC hit should then use and what regeneration rate of AT's should there be per a turn?

Well I don't think so if the regenaration of Life Force for the person who is hit is the same as now.

100 like it is seems fine. On average a same amount of AT's will be needed to knock someone out then you have to use at this moment to knock someone out using 'destroy'.

I think I have been asked about this before, the problems with it were as follows:
1 . Pretty hard to balance out, so can't really make it a 'main feature'.
2. It was created and based on using large amounts of time, so it would all have to be rescaled to allow faster attacks and probably faster repair.
3. The idea of the tournaments has its foundation on activity, practically the polar opposite of the atmosphere for descending.

Unfortunately it could never really be a main feature, I thought of integrating it into the tourneys and adding a clause that would, if killed by descension, give a much larger proportion of planets back, and it would be guaranteed (so none of this whoever gets the most kills within 36 hours).
But in the end I doubt there would be any descensions at all during a tourney, maybe a very select few that are completely inactive.

Could be an interesting possible avenue for a kill, but for those who have built their accounts to be "undescendable", there would have to be another way to eliminate them or it would get really tricky.

The way toc is now is fine...to do an ascension attack, your strike must be ten times their defense. If you build up even a 20 quad def in the tournament, then you'd need a 200 quad strike to start descension attacks unless you mass first.

make it so that TOC attack weakens the opponent untill he recharges his LF to the full
meaning his levels of defense attack assassin and etc go all temporarily down

Lower the LF lower his levels

now that would be interesting and fun :smt047

no, it make it even easier to pick of the weaker newb ascended accounts, unless you gave everyone an equal ToC and decendable accounts for the Tourney.

Maybe that could be a future event, removal all power ups from those entering a tourney.. make everyone "clean skins" so to speak :)

Section Admins - who will be 'in charge' of the section in question. They will be responsible for the overall feel of the section, the setup/structure, and most importantly the community/users in the section. This will incorporate the old 'ombudsman' role. And insofar as the Section Admin is responsible for the users, they are also responsible for the high level mod behaviour towards the users.
So -as a user - if you have an issue with how you are treated, rules, bans, whatever --goto the section admin... They are there for you!

There is no 'reporting structure' in this setup -- tech, mod, and section admins are all on equal footing, each with their own (somewhat overlapping) responsibilities.
Mods report directly to the mod admin, and indirectly to the section admin for the section in which they mod.

Yeah, and/or. Give everyone a starting amount of LFC to build their blank slate account in whichever way they want for the duration of the tournament. :D

That would be boring. It would boil down to who can stay up the longest and who has precise timing or friends that can tag team.
