I don't know much about how he did his job, but he doesn't deserve the scorn he's been getting lately. He's a decent person, more than I can say about others I know.
I've been in position of modding myself, (not here obviously, thank the universal powers for that) and it ain't easy stuff. I wasn't able to hold on for more than three months, so I respect him for being able to do that (and for keeping part of *their* sanity intact) at least.

Modding is down right easy. Do not over complicate the position. You keep your section clean and on topic. Not. Hard. At. All.

As for not knowing what happen, its been said time and time again, the material as to why he was such a bad admin will not be posted here. It was done once and deleted as soon as it was posted (several times to :smt043 ). Either contact the people that were involved or shut up. Its annoying to see you continue to pester the public about things most do not even have the full scope of understanding what had happened.

Wonder why my post count is so low? Thats because I was deleted. Why you may ask?
Well, thats because I exposed the truth about Zeratul and Admin Jason had to cover it up.

Re: Yo where's Zeratul?

I agree with Tetrismonkey.. I would phrase it differently (particularly the 'pestering the public', which I would phrase as 'asking questions already answered'), but the general idea I agree with.

This chapter is over and done with. No need to keep it alive, or stir the pot, or whatever the idea is. :)

Re: Yo where's Zeratul?

I've actually read the whole thing in the course of a few days. Been a few thousand lines I had to read, but at least I didn't have to search, as someone has been as kind as to copy-paste all the stuff in one place.
However, Zeratul was not only a mod, Tetris, he was an admin, and in that he had a bit more to deal with - of which I read, and I know he made some mistakes, yes. Human mistakes. Proves he's human despite his claims.
But now, I still wonder why so few remember things as they were before everyone found out about those mistakes.

It surprises me that you didn't take up an admin job yourself, Tetris, since it's so "easy".

It's not a mistake if you claim you're right from start to end.

Re: Yo where's Zeratul?

I did not see what he did, or did not do but I was told by people I trusted that he was not doing what was required. I hold him responsible for that but when cornered two vs one constantly from friends? Not much you can do if you disagree.

However, I doubt he wanted to stick around after so many people hurt his feelings. Would you?

Honours and Awards

Re: Yo where's Zeratul?

*cracks knuckles*

Alrighty then. Lets get started shall we?

First of all, Zeratul "pre-administrator" was fine. He was a fun guy to tool around the forums with, he was smart, open minded, funny, and a good RPer.
Then he got bumped up during Jasons big idea of firing the entire senior staff.

Apparently that planted the seeds of ignorance and arrogance in his persona. Or perhaps since he finally got to the top he stopped hiding it. I'm not a shrink.

He and I were friends, up until about July/August of last year. Perhaps later, I'm not too sure. It was a month or two into my short tenure as administrator. He and Earendil were constantly bickering, we all saw it and it was driving us nuts. So when I got bumped up, I tried to play mommy and mediate them/be a go between to get some constructive things done. It worked for a time. Honestly, at first I thought eary was just trolling around. But as I got stuck listening to them both more and more about the other. I started seeing Eary's perspective. Honestly, most of Zs complaints were things eary was doing as a result of things Z did. Excuse it or not, don't really care. Of course Earendil would be snippy, short, and angry with Z. He was doing nothing as an admin, stalled any type of conversation, and simply got the hell in the way of any progress or regress for the forums. He was a blob of pudding in the middle of the hallway. It got annoying as all hell, but I dealt with it.

A few things started to move forward, such as a GM selection and some minor forum details. Z tried to use the majority rule to circumvent Eary entirely, to get 2/3 majority passing of things without even consulting the guy. I said hell no, and demanded eary be part of the discussions. It was a trio, not a duet.

So fine, done and moved on. I posted some ideas I wanted to iron out and hopefully get moved into some form of implementation. One being a term rotation of the admins, a one year term for all three admins. Each admin would step down in three month intervals to prevent it being 3 all new admins all at once. It was liked and agreed to by 2 administrators, 2 sets of ombudsman, 8 (I think) GMs, and two former Admins. Yet, it never came to pass... where was that majority rule? Ah yes, it does not apply to Z. w/e. Moved on (for now).

So, then I figured it would be nice to clean up all the useless usergroups on the forum, removing the stupid custom colors users have so that only colors that had official meaning (staff/banned) would remain. Once again, we had 2/3 majority for it. Hell, zeratul even agreed to it himself... so long as he alone could keep his precious color. He wanted to remove all the others but let his remain. We told him no and a fight ensued. Once again Jason intervened and completely blackmailed me into dropping the issue DESPITE majority ruling. He told me he would completely refuse to even consider the idea of my term rotation for admins if we did not let Z keep his stupid color. So I buckled, I sold my soul because I wanted that rotation for the good of the forums. I even **Filtered** offered to be the first one to get rotated out to prove how much faith I had in the idea. But no. Precious Z, who did jack **Filtered** as an admin, was far too precious to lose even for the benefit of the forums.

And here is when I snapped. My rants, most of you know about. If you don't, click the link in my sig! Its all right there. Unedited, Full threads and conversations. Make up your own minds about what was justified and what was not.

All I can say is... I hope it was worth it.
I hope deleting 50k posts between myself, eary, and tet was worth it.

That one childish tempertantrum that accomplished absoultely nothing destroyed the last 2-3 years of 'important' forum history. Awards records are shot, massive chunks of forum details, discussions, and staff information are simply gone. I hope the gaping whole in the forum's history was worth what you got from it... a big heaping pile of nothing.

The cover-up failed. As evident by the 3? recent threads asking wth happened in regards to this.
I said it a thousand times as admin and I'll say it again. Trans - **Filtered** - parency. This is not area 51. Be honest and let the people in on the details.

I'll be active over the next week or so, there are some things I'd like to do here. If anyone want sot chat via PM about anything, as I have deleted almost everyone from my contacts when I migrated to skype.

:-)
