Christ almighty! Not often I react to a death on here, but this one got me a little. Sad to hear it, truly so, Mezz was around for most of my SGW journey and he will be a missed part if there is ever a continuation.

Rest in peace old friend. Mezz was a great player, a great leader, but most importantly a great guy. I was lucky to get a chance to speak with him and get to know him even a little bit.

Thoughts and prayers with his friends and family during this awful time. If anyone sees brother, do tell him how truly sorry we all are. If there's anything he or anyone needs from an admittedly faraway land, let me know.

I am so sad to hear about this. He really was a good guy and hearing it came as a shock to me as I am sure to all of us.

i received the news while at work and it floored me. For the last few weeks i had thought to drop nick a email to see how he was, but as it is far to often as one gets older, one should never wait. RIP old friend, may your love and trusted one find peace and joy in your memory.

I met Mezz in my first few months of playing this game. He brought me to FS, he help both Aud and I more times than i could count, and in a real life way, impacted me with good advice. And i never heard his voice, never once saw his face move, yet he was like a friend separated only by distance for so many years. He was in what i look on as the golden age of FS ( no disrespect to Drah or current members, its just was different people ,different times, a connection made every day, a family...Im sure u have that now, but for some of us, it will always be "our " FS)

good people of sgw...do not delay in saying how you feel to some one, showing how you care to some one, cause you never know...

Wayne, my heart goes out to you so much, i know Nick was like a real life brother to you. Stay strong. My heart felt feeling to Mezz's family, may your sorrow be short live, your memories long.

I just heard the news through facebook and need to thank daku for directing me to this thread. This has hit me hard and all the comments and support I have read so far have led me to shed a few tears.

I first heard about this and thought it was some joke, I knew Nick's age and never heard of him having any medical condition or whatnot. Then again, he was the type of person that would listen to others troubles over letting you know if anything was bothering him now that I think of it. He was a caring and generous person and was always calm and collected and many that have known him or at least seen him around on forums could attest to this. He was one of the few people in my life that I could without a doubt say; has positively shaped me up while I was growing up into the man I am now, I learned from many of his examples not by his actions in-game but through his character or nature and the times he helped me out when I was having a rough time. Whenever I needed to talk to him about anything to do with life he would make sure to be there, that was the type of guy he was.

He was one of the better friends that I ever came across and I am talking about in real life (despite never meeting him but always intending to ). Not many people outside of FS know but my life is a constant move and I never really was able to keep friends due to moving every 1-2 years. The oldies in FS in fact have been friends of mine longer than some of my current best friends, to this day I will hold them dear to me and they should know who they are whether or not I have been keeping in touch with them lately.

I still remember one day a promise that he told to all in FS, I think it was during the long ass war between DDE vs. FS (the 2nd round if memory serves me right). He said that one day if anyone in FS won the lottery the first thing they should do is do a huge meet up of all those in FS around the world and party, I know that he was being serious about that at the time and I also kept this promise and it will still stand anytime in the future in my case. Anyways I'm not sure if what I wrote made sense my head is a little bit buzzed and emotions running through me, I just felt the need to let everyone know what a great guy Nick was and how I will truly miss this man. In fact, he was one of the reasons I stopped playing sgw not long after his departure there was never as much fun in the game without him and brothers, to me at least.

Nick RIP big guy and to all his close relatives my condolences on your loss.

This is MajorLeeHurts posting on Papas acct as I no longer have access to mine...

We have lost a hero a friend a mentor a brother. Life is cruel at times. When someone you love is torn from you. We must hold on to the memories and the love and take time to remember and smile. Nick loved us , he loved this game he gave us so much of himself and impacted so many in positive ways without ever meeting face to face. He transcended his physical body in life and reached peoples hearts and souls around the world. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to know him and call him, friend.

Even though I never knew Mezz personally we always had a good chat normally sorting out issues with Ricos/FS.

To me, how people act in this game tells you something about them. If his behaviour in these forums and in game demonstrate the highest quality then in RL he must of been one hell of a bloke and the world has lost a good un.

Sadly I never got the chance to meet Mezz, I did have the honor of talking to him a lot when I was in FS. He was indeed a great man and mentor. Rest in peace my friend, you will be sorely missed.

Well hello there community.

I thought it was time i wrote something after all this time.


So Nick (mezz) was one of those people i was able to meet in person and not just online. We've spent many hours online playing back to back helping each other out. Back in the day he was always my trustee, my 2IC and i've always felt good talking to him. After meeting with him in person, and quitting the game I have not even once thought about sending him a message in the past few months, simply didn't cross my mind something like this could have happened. I deeply regret that now.

I hope his family will be able to get trough this, and our friend brothers, he was his best friend and it probably hurt him a lot seeing nick go like that.

Dear Nick, i still have pictures of you and the FS family will never forget you!
