But when the accounts are not in the same alliance,
it makes a lot of trouble for your alliance leaders as well as
your friends, allies, and miscellaneous treaty partners elsewhere in the game.

Don't need to be in the same alliance to be easily recognisable. But yes, it makes it a hell of a lot easier.

But when the accounts are not in the same alliance,
it makes a lot of trouble for your alliance leaders as well as
your friends, allies, and miscellaneous treaty partners elsewhere in the game.

It also adds decent potential for black ops and political intrigue, if done properly. As with all things, measure costs vs. benefits.
