No, the website has an IP to, everything has an IP.
Text URL's are just prevalent because they are easier to remember.
But in the end are converted to an IP addy before the request for info is sent.
:)

Sadly, I'm not sure what teh IP for this site is... as thats about as far as my technical skill goes. :(

Use Neotrace or many similar (some free trial, some completly free) programs out there - I would do it but I'm at work. There's a way to get it through DOS but I can't remember how (been a long time since I used Dos commands). I think you just type 'trace http://www.stargatewars.com' or something, it might be 'tracert'
Anyway, Neotrace def will work.

I believe the command you are looking for is tracert.

This will not work since you will only get the hosting server IP.

Contact admin.

You don't need to go to an external site to find it.

ohknee0 wrote:...There's a way to get it through DOS but I can't remember how...

Therefore using DOS to find your IP:

Using Windows ME, XP Home/Pro.:
1.) click on start
2.) click on run
3.) type "command", or "cmd"
4.) type "cd\", and press enter........you don't need to do this step but I like to
5.) type "ipconfig", and press enter
6.) either type "exit", and press enter or click on the 'x' thing on the top right part of the command prompt when you are done

An even faster way is to find one of halamala's posts on the forum. His 'banner sig.' will tell you your IP, depending on the type of firewall(if you have Microcrap), and the settings on another one(go with me on this...it's too late for me to explain).

that is for retrieving your own IP...
for IP of another site you can always try to figure out the command "nslookup" in dos

Commands: (identifiers are shown in uppercase, [] means optional)
NAME - print info about the host/domain NAME using default server
NAME1 NAME2 - as above, but use NAME2 as server
help or ? - print info on common commands
set OPTION - set an option
all - print options, current server and host
[no]debug - print debugging information
[no]d2 - print exhaustive debugging information
[no]defname - append domain name to each query
[no]recurse - ask for recursive answer to query
[no]search - use domain search list
[no]vc - always use a virtual circuit
domain=NAME - set default domain name to NAME
srchlist=N1[/N2/.../N6] - set domain to N1 and search list to N1,N2, etc.
root=NAME - set root server to NAME
retry=X - set number of retries to X
timeout=X - set initial time-out interval to X seconds
type=X - set query type (ex. A,ANY,CNAME,MX,NS,PTR,SOA,SRV)
querytype=X - same as type
class=X - set query class (ex. IN (Internet), ANY)
[no]msxfr - use MS fast zone transfer
ixfrver=X - current version to use in IXFR transfer request
server NAME - set default server to NAME, using current default server
lserver NAME - set default server to NAME, using initial server
finger [USER] - finger the optional NAME at the current default host
root - set current default server to the root
ls [opt] DOMAIN [> FILE] - list addresses in DOMAIN (optional: output to FILE)
-a - list canonical names and aliases
-d - list all records
-t TYPE - list records of the given type (e.g. A,CNAME,MX,NS,PTR etc.)
view FILE - sort an 'ls' output file and view it with pg
exit - exit the program
being normal is also overrated, you must have faith in who you are

or you just use alienproxy.com
that can open any site that has been blocked by your proxy in school.

Many of the proxy sites have been blocked thats why we were looking for the IP of the sites we use instead,

You do know that your school has blocked sites for a reason right? You're supposed to be doing work on the computers there not playing games.

Why dont you try that and take your mind off this game for a few hours a day, trust me it'll help with making UU etc instead of watching the screen like a hawk every turn and getting wound up you dont have enough uu yet.

to everyone else - stop helping him to get around his school's blocks they are only trying to help thewir students improve their work ability. Plus you'll find most schools take a very dim of their students evading the web blocks and will probably end up suspending him for it, do you want that on your consience??

BuzzKill :D

Colleges/schools have blocked them for a reason yes, everything like that has a reason for not being allowed its up to the person if they think that reason is good enough, games have cd-keys, there to make it so you can only register it once? Thats ment to stop illegal downloads and such, does it work?

I was only asking a simple question, there isnt any need to try to stop people answering it for me. The worst thing that could happen to me is I get banned from using the computers but then they would need to rethink as I have to use the computers for my A level. The most likely thing is they will come up to me and ask "Are you supposed to be on that? Well get off it then" :P

No offence ment on any of this by the way....
And it may be wasting my education but there we go its my education, Im not being forced to go to college its my choice. I only actually wanted to know a way of doing this just make my life that ever so slightly easier because I wouldn't get **Filtered** off some randomer because I had like 50mill showing as I didnt log on in the morning to spend my Monies!
I have to many UU damn market thing not working :(
