The way it is now is that one can just make someone your Commander without their approval.
Someone can basically just leach a couple of millions (or however much one can get in 24h) off someone before they get kicked out.
What would be nice is that if one decides to join a Commander, he can send a request to him and then get approved and only THEN can that player benefit from the Commanders income.
This would work in the same way as joining an alliance works now.

I think this an excellent idea - people just like to bash everyone's ideas for something to do, or their just jealous they didn't think of it themselves. An automated process exactly like the alliance process should be put in place.
Or if you don't like this idea - why not just take away the automated process for alliances? anyone can just join.....ya, didn't think you would like that very much.

LOL!
No they don't - but people do like to critique ideas and point out that they (this one included) might be a 'nice to have' rather than a 'need to have'.
As for not thinking about it themselves - this has been suggested before.
The current system works for both alliances and commanders. If you do not want people joining you at random - do as sovetski suggest - unclick 'accept new officers' - then, when you want to let somebody join you, arrange it so that they do it when you temporarily go back to accept new officers.
It's not rocket science people!

Those weren't your exact words, but fair enough.
Anyway - your suggestion already exists.
Player A is not accepting new officers. Player B wants to join Player A so sends him an in-game message (the request to join him). Player A accepts and shows his approval by a reply and by setting 'accept new officers'. Player B joins Player A. Player A unclicks 'Accept new officers'.
I'm only pointing out it already exists in another form.

Doesn't matter, I said it would be nice if the whole procedure you described could be automated, that's all. Not critical, no emergency, just something to do when nothing else requires attention on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
