The thing is, most updates are imposible to test using a test server. I don't know how to explain why, its sorta complicated. You're just going to have to take forums word for it.
Indu and proud of it!!

So it is impossible to fully test a update on a test server?

The forces of SGC_Sam Fisher subdued those of JUAN.
The armies of JUAN were forced out of the realm of SGC_Sam Fisher in a none to glorious fashion! The defending forces were simply too much for them. It is sure that SGC_Sam Fisher will be considering a return visit to JUAN!
Aaaaaawwwwwww Yeeeeaaahhhhh!

A restore from backup is more likely.
Yep remember that and I remember the last restore from backup. Just that as the server is officially down, admin will know when the server is coming back up and baring in mind the global makeup of the users, it would make sense to let everyone have time to be ready.
it's no one's fault that this has happened, but why should people be disadvantaged when the server has been down for 9 hours and is officially down until further notice.

Except that it does have consequences...see Forum's post in the general info area...he's got to undo the damage done step-by-step...which means all those that abused the bug deserve to have some sort of penalty imposed...I just can't figure out how you'd tell someone who abused it from someone who just happened to have it affect them and did nothing with it (save perhaps buy PPT to ride it out safely).

i don't see how people who did stuff can be too blame... i'm not saying it's Psi's fault but i mean... if a mod gives you permission to do something then i take it for meaning you won't be punished for doing it...

I assumed it would be common sense for people to know to leave something alone when it is messed up. But I guess that is why there are the help desk stories about what users do
So while I agree that doing things when the server is known to be messed up is abusing the system it also would not make sense to punish the handful of users who made the matter worse.
Feel fortunate that we have someone like Forum running the show though. I know other game administrators that would punish people, and then ban them from the forums in order to keep them quiet.
