Is there any chance this could be brought into the game?

i came across this star wars amatuer game they seem to have some visuals , i think thats all this game lacks. its probably to much to but i thougth id ask anyway

I've always wanted visuals in this game, like even small crappy images of the weapons or stupid low quality pics in battle reports. it wouldn't improve this game at all, but it would improve the overall experience.

The issue with this is bandwidth, if you have say 600 people on the main server at all times and there are about 10x40kb images in everyone's armory or whatever, then that means the server would be running 240,000 kb of bandwidth a second that means the server would be uploading 240mb of bandwidth a second on top of the bandwidth of the people on the forums and people just surfing around.. Ultimately it's not that costly in bandwidth unless the site is hosted through a very poor server.

I still would like some kind of visuals if possible. Hell, i'll even produce them myself if this idea goes through...

forum would easily get ppl to support the site with $ if it had visuals , i used to pay $130 to play SW Galaxies, now while that was a pretty impressive game in terms of graphics and such, i find this more enjoyable and would be willing to pay something towards it if it had small not **Filtered** but ok quality visuals , like 2D battle or something

That would make this a totally different kind of interactivity... Your talking about completely redesigning the game all together.

I'd be lieing if i said I wouldn't like to get this game to such a point. But at this point in the game, i think it's completely unrealistic considering not really anyone that works on this game has the experience to do what your talking about...

surely a moving stats bar or something cant be that hard, like in football manager games, move from right to left depending on whos winning. maybe i am asking too much but when i saw this game and what they had i couldnt believe this was an ametuer site

You're right we shouldn't dismiss this idea altogether. How do you think we could get this game to that point? (Think baby steps.)

I know for a fact that new features are the most appealing thing about new game suggestions.

i suppose first steps would be visuals in army and training, like showing pics of x302s, or in taining showing the different looks the troops have.

So for right now we're talking about your standard screen caps, just basically resized and altered to suit the needs of say, the armory.

Then in the future we could look into actually having little animated gif characters to represent the different units in the game.

yeah, i think the pics used should be small computer generated models, rather than screen shots of each weapon, itd look better, small screen stuck in would look really cheap and rushed

Right but like I said, think baby-steps, because if your too quick to rush through the explanation of your suggestion Forum isn't going to take it seriously. Because he'll get the impression we aren't.

Models though, I can do that actually, I've got a completed model of a hatak on my computer right now, i just haven't figured out how to skin it yet haha.

But those other models would take months to complete.



I also recently completed this guy just to see if I could make a human model...

How exactly? I think you'll find that Forum gets a hell of a lot of donations as it is!!

This debate about adding graphics/visuals has surfaced many times before - and what you must remember is that this is a text-based MMORPG. The game does not need visuals and, if you had seen some of the other threads that have appeared on this topic in the past, you would see that most people are against it.

The fact that the game has expanded from TGW into Quantum and then Ascension and then Chaos is testament to the fact that the TGW universe is doing well enough on current donations in its current format, without the need to try and 'buy' more donations with visuals. Don't you think?

Yes, I don't think money should have anything to do with this. But with all do respect Wolf, we are simply examining the implications of adding graphics to this massive game. Not to rob the 'imagination' from the game but as I said, to enhance the overall experience. Undoubtedly no one on here wants to ruin the game. But we are always left wanting more from this game. From the hours and hours we all put into it, for the most part, people get very little satisfaction or fulfillment from it. Though the interactiveness of this text based game is limited by pre-placed buttons and pre-determined calculations. What makes a game what it is, is the interactive platform it's based on.

This is a very bland game platform and very limited too. To interact with the user visually as well and mentally increases the potentiel of this game ten-fold.

I am not going to push for graphics if people truely appose this, but so far I haven't seen anyone appose this topic but you Wolf.
