I never meant my comment about paying dollars to be taken that way, i meant if forum was to say it couldnt be done due to expense id have no problem helping out more, im not saying hed be buying donations.

Seeing as how most of this game is the result of the community and less of whatever Forum thinks he's created. I don't see why we should have ask to make additions to the game at all. I mean without us this game would be nothing. There would be no donations, there would be no community just a useless shell of a site which no one would care about.

Luckily Forum realises this and has made an effort to make some adjustments to the original game design.

I just think that this shouldn't be questioned as to if it will happen. But when...

I mean wasn't runescape a textbased mmorpg game before it went to 2d, then 3d...?

I dunno... But my point is that no one should seem surprised that this has been suggested or is being suggested and always will be suggested. People wanting to help improve something they feel apart of is perfectly normal and if the masses of this community want graphics for this game, then it should seriously be considered. Not apposed simply because a small few have raised some red flags in the past. I mean where are these people who appose this idea now? No where to be found...

Lastly I have no problem with the game not having graphics I just hate that people are trying to shoot this idea down without pointing out valid reasons and because the suggestion has failed in the past.

Don't continuously question this suggestion's overall role in the game, understand what we've already suggested and take a roll in it's development so that it pleases everyone in the game. Because no one person on here truely made any of these previously successful suggestions what they became.

Yeah, it would be cool. For example if you have a mothership there could be a picture of a mothership beside the text "Nick, personally commanding the Mothership, their mothership" if that person is Asgard, there would be a picture of an Oneill Class Asgard mothership. If it is a Goa'uld, a picture of a Ha'tak. And a System Lord has a picture of Apophis's flagship or something. Replicators have the their mothership of course and Tau'ri have a BC-303.

Exactly, I mean we already have customized toolbars for each race, why not further that idea to include battle and covert logs.

We aren't talking about full-blown 3D graphics. Well at least not yet...
Right now we are just requesting simple images be placed in the armory, training and technology sections to give people more of a visual stimulation when they think about this game.

No no... What happened was Forum was contacted I guess by someone working for MGM. He got e-mailed about the name of the game and how he had to alter some things about the game to make it less infringing I guess...

Basically MGM isn't able to stop us from puting visuals in the game if the names of the weapons are somehow misspelt and the visuals are very vague and not high quality by any means... Basically the further you are from infringing upon a copyright the better you are in the long run... But since they don't seem to mind the fact that this site is still called 'stargatewars.com' obviously MGM is willing to let some things slide...

Yes, I don't think money should have anything to do with this. But with all do respect Wolf, we are simply examining the implications of adding graphics to this massive game. Not to rob the 'imagination' from the game but as I said, to enhance the overall experience. Undoubtedly no one on here wants to ruin the game. But we are always left wanting more from this game. From the hours and hours we all put into it, for the most part, people get very little satisfaction or fulfillment from it. Though the interactiveness of this text based game is limited by pre-placed buttons and pre-determined calculations. What makes a game what it is, is the interactive platform it's based on.

This is a very bland game platform and very limited too. To interact with the user visually as well and mentally increases the potentiel of this game ten-fold.

I am not going to push for graphics if people truely appose this, but so far I haven't seen anyone appose this topic but you Wolf.

And, with all due respect, graphics and visuals have been discussed amny many times - and rejected many many times.

There are also copyright issues.
