zero def and damage sustained

can anybody explain to me the logic behind sustaining damage when you attack or raid someone with zero defence??????????

simply put if you attack or raid someone with zero defence then you should sustain zero damage...doesnt that make more sense?

unless of course my loyal Jaffa need glasses

not only energy... imagine a plain that flies: it is used, has to get to the garage to get a check up repair some damaged parts due to the voyage and so on...

and since this is a Space-game... the distances aren't from washington to NY...

what sparked me to post this was the fact i attacked someone with zero def and sustained 5 mill damage, i then attacked someone who has 700 mill def and the damage i took was exactly the same.

someone please explain that to me!!!
