This suggestion right now I can only see it for 2 possibly 3 of the four nonascended races (tauri and gould possibly asgard {can't remember seeing anything like it in the show} and replis I can't think of anything [ideas?]). It is something like the merc tech. In fact the way I am going to suggest it it works like the med tech.
In RL some of the battle causalities die but some make it. Fine. Now implement something like the merc tech only it is medics instead of merc. They could reduce the causalities by a fixed percentage. You can upgrade it to a max of say like 10% of the causalities you suffered get healed and return to duty.
Some would say that it would benifit only the rich and strong. That is where the merc tech levels come in. The higher your up the costlier it is to get the next level. And to limit the strong people build in a rehab time (as in RL). Each level that you go up the rehab time is cut by a fixed or proportional %. But I would limit the shortest rehab time to just a week. So one week for the rehab to be complete if you have the max med tech levels.
Also to help the limits of the strong people I would suggest you make it into a merc type but instead of being limited by the number of trained troops limit it by the number of mercs (trained?).
so in summary it is
1) have a specialized merc that heals your troops
2) limit the number of medics to a % of the number of mercs (trained?)
3) make it like the merc levels where the higher your up the more expensive it is to get
4) have a rehab time instead of instaneous healing
5) if someone can point out the asgard version of the medics (or the med tech in use by the aliens) or have an idea for the replie verison please suggest
med tech

divide our armys into squads and each squad has a medic, hmmm intresting.
i'd prefer not because our troops brute force to charge and attack, there is no time to gather your dead/dying from the battlefield though the reps shoulc rebuild more units after a battle, say a percent of weapon damage the oppent took.

Interesting - but I am not yet convinced either way......
Why should the med tech be related to merc tech - I do not see an obvious connection??

I did that so it is a limited number. I thought of a further refinement. Make it so the medic replaces a few of the mercs. You won't have quite as many mercs but in the long run there should be more of them for less replacement naq. I choose the mercs because unless you have a pot load of one type of troop say defense you should have fairly equal amounts of your soldiers and mercs or less mercs.

The connection is through how the cost is calculated. The cost is calculated by how high your UP is.

I understand that - my question was why? It would not seem obvious to do it that way. Besides - he gave me an answer,

Goa'ulds still get their bonus cause they get a percent of enemy casualties.
i meant med tech
thing is, if the levels are related to UP then when u re-ascend you can buy them real cheap like you do with merc tech...
fixed prices i would say

I am not saying that this would replace the losses. In RL you still would have losses. But you would also have some that weren't losses but still took damage. hence the rehab time. And since rehab takes time (thus the week at best for the rehab)..... And at max I was only thinking of no more than 10%-15% of the causalities being "eligible" for rehab.
