planets?

are there only so many planets out there? becasue about 2 weeks ago, I was finding a planet every day, but now..I haven't found a planets in 15 straight times out.

The more planets that have been found, the less there is to be found.

So yes, There is a set amount.

An interesting note to that:
Abandoned planets get 'recycled'. There are the occasional stories of players ditching a junk planet, sending out their M/S, and picking it right back up.

Indeed, I used to get the message of something like this:
"Your mothership crew is confident there are planets out there -they had 21 possible sightings- but simply could not find a suitable one this journey out."
Now I often get this
"In fact, your mothership crew report that the totally unoccupied planets are either dangerously low in supply, or gone completely. They only had 88 possibles, none of which worked out."
And notice on the second one I had 88 sightings & not one found?

so in other words......i should keep my mothership home for military support more times that not?

Nowadays yeah. I mean I think there needs to be some more planets added, but that's another point. Also it depends if you raid a lot etc. IF you keep it home and raid, then the repair costs become slightly higher. I often send my MS out when I know I'm going to raid one of my farms.
