How do i tap into these reserves:

Ascended Life Force Reserves 155,337 / 182,100
Ascended Life Force 1,047 / 18,210

I checked the conversion part of 'power up'. But this comes up:

0 Ascension Points Available. Will return 0 Ascended Life Force

reserves are untappable. they are there to help protect you from descension. I hope this means that (0nce the reserves are full) you can spend below the 500 limit of the usable LF

and 500 is a lot? no. because that'll encourage people to run around with 0 plf.
