Being your own commander should procide you with a boost to your own income - but it is always better to be someone else officer/commander as the benefits are greater.

umm... I don't think it should.

Being your own commander gives you 20% more UP and doesn't increase your income. Having no commander gives you 10% more UP and 10% more income.
