This may seem kinda stupid... but if planets are dried up... what is the purpose of having the ability to send your MS to look for planets?
I suggest either make a system taht ocassionally creates planets or get rid of the search function...

The search feature sends your MS away where it can't be touched by massers, or be damaged if you get farmed.

Who says there are no more planets? Maybe they are just harder to find?
If I remember rightly, when planets were first introduced there was something that talked about the odds of finding a planet - and that you would have to (on average) send your MS away a large number of times (if memory serves it was in excess of 30).

it most likely told him 0 sightings, not no planets left out there...

What he said ^^^^^
"In fact, your mothership crew report that the totally unoccupied planets are either dangerously low in supply, or gone completely."
forum wouldn't have worked in gone completely if it wasn't meant to happen... so why is there still a search feature...

Yes - but, the key word is in fact the smallest one in the sentence:
"In fact, your mothership crew report that the totally unoccupied planets are either dangerously low in supply, or gone completely."
For info - a few weeks back I sent my MS out and got that very same message. I sent it out again straight away and found a planet.
And, even if there were none, people steal planets and abandon them all the ime - meaning that there will be others available - it's just a matter of luck getting them.

but the fact that that second bit is there... means taht it is going to happen... he wouldn't have put it there if it wasn't going to happen soon... regardless... originally i suggested either removing the feature if there are none left... or its truly that small... they should increase the numbers

I agree with Wolf. Planets are not all gone, and it depends on blind luck.
Why?
Simple. My mothership found a planet today, after sending it out less than ten times.
Patience is all you'll need to find one(and the resources to defend it once you have it).
