Prizes on main.

My apologies if this has been thought of, I HAVE done a search "server prize" but only came up with a hit based on the Chaos server.

It came to me while discussing a server prize for Chaos.
Why not a prize in main?
But then it hits you... You can't "win" main since it doesn't end.

Heres my thought. For example, every 3 or 6 months, who ever is in the top 3, or maybe just the winner, gets a prize.
For example, "the top 3 players on the 1st of December 2006 will win a prize.

This would create a very unstable and chaotic environment in the top. Which would be very fun indeed!

What prize? I think that should be up to the public, but some ideas i've had are:
Money-To make it that far, costs a fiar amount of money, most players would of spent ALTEAST $50, so I'm sure an amount of this back wuoldn't hurt.

An ingame prize (Naq, UU, whatever)

all other suggestions welcome :D

interesting idea...

how about top ten players both total and in each branch (attack, defense, covert, mothership)

the #1 for each and for total gets the cash price or whatever, the other 45 gets some ingame price, and no player can get more than one price...

perhaps there should also be some ingame award for best alliance, best commander, etc...

how do these ideas sound?

Thats a great idea, I had thoughts along these lines, but I thought the admins may not want to fork over alot of money...

But the top for all things would be good.

maybe the "winner" could get like a special planet till the next prize was to be given so like a trophy planet which cant be stolen and it could offer like a % upgrade of all ur stats by like 25% or something....or maybe the prize could be something like your name in the attack log is a different colour from the other people so people know you were number one

I don't know. If it only existed for the top 3/10 there probably wouldn't really be an incentive for those 'not that high' in those areas to try to attain.

It probably would create something interesting and volitile up where the air is thinner, but it may just become something between the most powerful players to fight and vie for. I sorta think it will become something like an 'in-joke' for those most powerful, like something exclusionary against those who might have trouble moving vertically(up).

The most common arguement would be those with power will have an easier time retaining it, and to counter would be to say that each player starts out the same and the only thing holding them back(to a degree), is the direction they choose for their account(ie. we all can make choices to bring our account to the top).

i second that this could be a very silly idea..itl either make powerful players alot more powerful or make the competition side of the game even worse..causing more tension...(especially if money is involved)....so there is no way to win with a prize...

when we have thought a little on this, we agree that it would only make the gap between the strong and the weak players bigger...

but it would have been fun if there was some award that worked for those players that are not in the top, yet still had something to do with being good at something... does anyone have any idea how this would be possible to accomplish?

How about something like the most improved players in the ranks from 1-3000, 3000-4000, 4K-5K, etc. and going from there? It would encourage players to improve and be fairer(I didn't say absolutely fair) across the board.

Alternatively, maybe the higher you are the greater the number of players to be considered in that pool, ie. since it's easier for me to increase my up by 2K each day, and not so ofr someone in the 20K's then...

pool 1: rank 1-3000
pool 2: rank 3001-5500
pool 3: rank 5501-7000
etc., etc. or some divisable quantity like that? So the further down you go the less people you are competing with, and the easier(possibly) it will be? The prizes could get better and better the higher you move, and limits could be in place so that the same people aren't always winning(ie. you can only win a prixe once every three/four months, where there are three/four prize periods a year). For the lower ranked pple you can only win that prize once a year, to prevent people from staying low to get things, and to try to get them to get better.

EDIT: At the same time, it would propagate the misconception that rank means something in the grand scheme of things, and do we really want main to become more and more like the other servers?

we think that perhaps each pool should be smaller quantities, and that the best few should be excluded from awards, as this form would be meant for those not powerful, so perhaps there should be a different system for the top 500-600 players...

but we think that an ingame award (ingame awards wouldn't cost the admins anything...) set for each pool would be a possibility, and that those awards would not be available to those that got all their increases from others or directly by paying $$...

so we think that the pools could be something like each 100 players, and that they would require certain amounts of activity, and requirements (and perhaps rewards)...

so the pools would be:
601-700
701-800
801-900
etc...

we think that if the requirements for each were to "increase this or that thing by so and so %", it would prevent someone selling off much of their attack or something like that just to drop into an award; so the requirements to get an award in a pool would be to not have been in any pool higher than the one with that reward within the last period of "X" days, and perhaps that also counts if one has ascended in that same period...

possible rewards could be:
small up boost
free ppt (and perhaps one of the two below with "-" infront)
- small amount of uu
- some amount of naq
free mothership (or capacity on mothership for something if mothership already exist)
free special planet that is around for a certain time (unconquerable, with unique bonus)
free trained units (spies, anti-spies, etc...)
other things... (if anyone can think of more, please throw them out...)

we suspect that the idea for quantum and chaos prizes didnt go anywhere because quantum hasn't had any yet, and chaos is too far from ending yet...

but we think that the same sort of bonuses we suggested here could perhaps work on the other two servers as well...
