Cos way back in the SG Verse the Asgard were almost identical to the Humans only back then they were WAY smarter than humans will ever be and cos of changes in their home galaxy and the reliance on cloning they kinda became small and grey so thats how :D

lol i don't think they meant to do that if you ever saw the eppy where SG1 are helping the Asgard with their Research i think it was season 6 ending thats what they looked like not like humans in the way we know the tau'ri and the non ascended ancients like but still very simlair
