UP and Ascension

I have a quick question.
Before you can ascend you need a minimum number of UU to sacrifice.... this figure varies depending on what your UP is, right?

1. Does it depend on your RAW or TOTAL UP?
2. Is there a calculation to it.... i.e. 15k UP requires 300k UU sacrifice etc? So can you multiply your UU figure to work out what number of sacrifices you may need?
