This put little players at a huge disatvantage...
and planets would go at a steady rate as people are just hurling junk planets at other people for fun etc
seriously.... planets are huge... and asteroid is a moving object without a orbit, it's path can easily be changed... but a planet has a more circular and STABLE orbit, it'll be hard to move..
and there'll be a revolt on your POPULATED planets if decide to condemn them to death by throwing them at another planet...
how would you like it if somebody threw earth at mars to "soften the defense" of mars...

that would actually be pretty funny. This would also help out if someone was gonna take your planet, you could hurl it at them

If we're able to move a planet from one system to another with a mothership... why not use your mothership to hurl them to another planet....
this is a great idea and to coorect some ppl who thinkk they know everything ill tell u the facts: asteroids have orbits, pluto, aplanet, is smaller than some asteroids.
an even better idea would be instead of hurling planets u hurl moons. each planet has a certain number of moons, 3 at max, which can be bought for 1 billion each. when someone attaks ur planet u can say that the moon took all the damge, it would take the damge every once in a while sortve like the asgard hologram thing. if u wanted to u could hurl a moon at someone as part of ur attak, moons arent populated, and then that moon is gone.
another idea could be as a timebomb. u rig the moons core withh an explosive and when it gets to the other galaxy it blows up and takes away some of anoter pplanets defenses. for example, u buy 250 defenses for your planet, 750,000,000 defense poonts, then the planet, with its moons, you just conquered explodes and blows up taking about 30-50 defense with it, 250 goes to 220 or 200. if the planeet has no defenses whatsoever then the planet is destyoed, if it has defenses that r wiped out then it is destyored. If there are no other planets then u could damage the mothership that cvonquered it severly, for example, u had 1000 sheilds now u have 4-800 shields.
u could also use the planet as a way to sneek people into other ppls galaxies. u place soliders and spies on the planet and when it is conquered, they go with the planet to the other galaaxy. in the other glaxy they bide ther time.ur enemy can do all the normal things to a planet like put defenses on it, increse attributes and so forth. they can also choose an option such as clear planet that will try to find your ppl.if found all ur ppl on that planet are now converted to untrained units for the enemy. if not found then ur ppl r still there and they continue on their mission. the clear planet option would be their covert vs yours. the main objective is for them to wait until u come bak to claim the planet and when u do they would help destoy some of the infrastructure, lets say 30 or 40 defenses. if your covert is powerful enuff your spies will be able to take over a planet, without destroying the defenses, when u attak in ur mothership. if ur spies do take over the planet, then they will take a certain number of ppl on the planet hostage, the ppl who run the facilities. the ppl who run the facilities will not come from yor untrained unit pool, but from the planet itself, they r automaticlly there. this is a great wager by whoever places the spies and soldiers on a planet but if succesful they will gain alot more. it is also great for the conquerer of the planet becuase they got the planet, converted the spies and now have more untrained units than before. if the conqurer of the planet loses the planet to soomeone else, then the spies one placed will contact u and tell u who has the planet. they can also tell u the defenses of the planet and other planet info.if the conqureres put spies on a planet that already has spies and soliders on it then they will clash and it will be covert power multipplied by army power( because u have spies AND soldiers).the placer of the spies and soldier gets more because they are taking a bigger risk. putting 100 thousand ppl on a planet and losing them is a very bad thing and u already lost ur planet. the conquerer only loses the planet and defenses which wouldve already been lost if it was a regualer attak.
I think this is a good thought out strategy, so let me know if there is any holes in my explantion i left out.
I like the moons idea, but Y not change it to astroids, like in the show. Each day you can negate the effects(bonuses) of the planet in order to use some sort of special technology to bring an astroid into its orbit (max 3 astroids per planet). Then you can upgrade the astroids size to a limit based on the size of the planet that it is orbiting. The size of the astroid will decide how much damage is done when you hurl it at opponents.

that is so going into my sig!
on a sidenote, its a decent idea, but needs alot of perfecting and tweaking before implementation.
Haha, i like that quote, would you mind if i put it in my sig as well, you thought of putting it in your sig first so i figure its only fair that i ask for copyright privlages.
I say let a person hurl planets at an opponent. If the planet misses, then another person behind the opponent (call him the catcher), catches the planet and hurls it back to the original person (call him the hurler... no wait, call him the 'pitcher' - has a nice ring to it...). Then, another person behind the catcher (who we'll call the umpire), says whether the planet should've hit the opponent or not. If not, then he says "ball!", and the pitcher gets another try... the object is for the opponent to "bat" the planet back at the pitcher with his planetary defenses, hopefully far enough that the pitcher or his friends can't even reach it, in which case I say we should call it a 'home run'
Man, that all just came to me in a flash... what do you think?
Seriously, the idea of hurling planets is no more farfetched than that of stealing planets, it could be an 'abandon' option, or another attack option, but I personally don't see a need to change the game for this.
