Yes, which is my motivation for posting here in the first place, in criticism of an idea which I think UNbalances the game. I see many planet-related threads, all aimed at taking the very 'balancing' aspect of planets away piece by piece.

lol ...is that when you had to walk uphill both ways to school? I'm no spring chicken here either - I've seen a lot of changes ingame, many I don't agree with, even if I never bothered saying so.
Basically, I see a high number of threads posted here by a relatively small # of more or less the same people. Admin seems more than willing to change gameplay using these suggestions, so I'm obliged to play devil's advocate and counter the ideas I don't agree with. I haven't posted any suggestions myself because in general, I think people should adapt to the game, and not the other way around. I agree with interface-type changes that improve the game for everybody, but I think admin needs more restraint when they change the game itself... this usually helps some people and hurts others, which is unfair. The least I can do is to counterpoint ideas I find unfair.

Especially since I am the section head for modding here.
Thanks,

I didn't imply anywhere in my post that I could or even would prevent people from suggesting 'improvements' to the game. I was calling on their innate human decency to let this particular horse die in peace.
Final thought:
-Two people play a game...
-they like it enough (as it is) to each spend 50 real dollars of their own money to support it...
-one person plays to be a raider and steal uu from other players (within the rules of the game, of course), because there is a good supply of stealable uu, and much profit to be made...
-the other player decides to be a planet hunter and steal planets to trade for resources (also within the rules of the game), because there is a good supply of stealable planets, demand from other players to trade for them, and much profit to be made...
-having made their choices and committed time and resources in-game (on top of the real cash they paid in), both players had equal opportunities and made very different choices, but on even terms...
-all of a sudden, admin changes the rules of the game
-raider does very well now, especially with untouchable attack planets
-planet trader is out of business, and sorry, no warning of the changes, and no way to get a refund because the changes don't meet the expectations you had when you paid the money
Admin hasn't gone this far with the rules for planets YET, but they have started. I think that is unfair to the players and supporters of the game. So, planet whiners whine to change the game to suit them personally, and I am obligated to whine back, for admin to let me play 'SGW', and not 'SGW - Planet Whiner Edition (c)'
Yes, Acronon, the game is already different than before, but each time the gameplay is overhauled with no warning brings me closer to not supporting it any longer, and I'm saying this because I think I'm not the only one offended, not because I think my personal support means squat.
