there are always exceptions that make the rule. for example, nebulator. or someone who threatens your real life for ingame actions.
but its always so easy to slip. it starts with fighting againt multies, but its just so easy for it to degrade into "this guy really pissed me off" isnt it. its what has happened to the game atm.
so far everyone who has posted has agreed that its not a truly acceptable thing to do (quite reassuring). but it would be nice to hear from some of the people who actively use this tactic.
sitting on somebodies account untill deletion

Some would say that's what you have done.
Also, some players you would have to force to delete, eg, EtL, their very existence ingame gives allies a reason to fight for them,
loads of players are coming through who have done this also, just a bit quicker, because of updates.
the game is about growth, to be able to war & carry on, I & many others have achieved this. So we are ruining the Game?
Ps & I have wared a LOT

meh sitting on someones account till they quit is quite mean, but then some people do things to deserve it. not just cheats/multis but sometimes you will encounter someone who you will just not click with on any level and just war with them all the time. of course each side in situations like that will usually be able fight back and so makes it a war of attrition till one quits. Not saying its right but somethings ppl do against you can be ignored forever, especially if they keep at it over & over everyday of your ingame life.
In response to ppl whining about Omega's power. yes they are powerful and being sat on by one of them hurts. However generally speaking most Omegans do seem to generally ok and will talk it out with you if your willing to try. Occasionally they go too far of course, but so does everyone else so lets not cast the first stone.

I sit on planet thieves accounts so that I can catch their fleets. Originally my thought was deletion but not in the sense that it would make them leave the game. The idea about deletion to that kind of an account is so that the hangars get destroyed and they have to restart. I would like to see some type of update to planet thefts since all they have to do is take it and drop it and sell the fleets.
When I get massed, I will mass back and hit their officers as well since they provide a UP boost. Its a game and a war game at that. I will sit on the account until I get compensation for what was done to me. The goal is not deletion, but compensation. Its war tactic. This is a game.
The way the game is structured and what you are allowed to do with the game functions limit certain war strategies (i.e. targeting assassins, etc...). Just have to adapt and play within the limits of the game to get what you want.

It is even sometimes necessary, but shouldn't be use as a daily tactic. Many fewer people would receive that fate if they would walk away after a good massing instead of running to forums whinning and complaining and asking for help. Bill has proved this point many times. I can remember one guy who talked his way out of a massing from Bill and even got him to recommend him to his alliance mates as an officer.
Most of the time, I will relent even if I claim to sit on them until deletion.
But as long as they are rude, they are sat on. I have rarely stood by that threat, one of them being Dyneasty.
and at the time, i was very angry at him

Sometimes some of the mods will try to step on you, or even mod your section. My advice is to fill a sock with marbles and hit them repeatedly until they stop. - Pianomutt2000.urban assault wrote: Bill? Hey, I said I was kidding! Bill, don't push that red button!

As for what KJ said, yes there are bullies, but then to have your revenge in the same way, is not the way. but I do understand.
I was none of the above but hey, I apparently was sat on till I deleted Dyneasty. Hensenshi, say that but you supported Bill sitting on me...
Wow...Feels like the elections all over again...
Cough, wondered when you would post hehehehehe.

One more, as a final note. I have only done it a few times. And all of them felt right at the time.
Dyneasty - The only long term sitting on i ever did. We are now on far better terms now then we were before. He also plays far more then he used to, and is much more aggressive
Aussieboy - Certain things said about one's wife will never be forgiven. Remember that.
I have even helped someone who threatened my life in RL to rebuild after an applogy, how many can say that

I wouldn't threaten deletion, but I managed to achieve it after receiving pms from someone who knew my officer from school. They massed my officer for fun, so I made the usual Commander demands. To my astonishment I was replied to wiith absolute barrels of abuse, including one that stated "I hope all your children are stillborn."
I found this uberoffensive so I did not let it go. Eventually he quit, then restarted. I had the pleasure of discovering that he was a multi in this new incarnation so he got himself deleted this time around.
Fair enough, no?

You know what the worst thing about it is?
let this be a lesson, if you crush your enemy too much......you become friends and run out of people to plot on..

it seems that trying to make another player delete their account has crept into commonly used tactics.ill sit on your account till u delete
something i saw today in a thread after very little provocation. is that acceptable? this is a game open to anybody who obeys the rules. if a player is following the rules of the game, is it really a fair, honorable or acceptable thing to be doing?
this isnt meant as a whine, or an attack on anyone in specific. im just wanting to open up a discussion on whether this is now an acceptable part of the community?
It does worrie me where SGW is going, if someone cant play the game for fun in there spare time without 'Mr.Big' destorying them every turn.

Well...I must admit that even I have, on one or two occasions, caused someone to delete their account...
However...I never intended for that to happen...so I must say that I would never use it as a threat...
It's dishonorable to not give your enemy a fighting chance...
