My blood oozes black as sin. And it's cold.

That's the type of blood Pog has.

Be careful people. He wants to know why so he can harvest your organs as you sleep.

You would think so, but not as many people as you think donate blood, and even still the need is great.

I'm A+ (lol, I always got good grades... ;))

I've donated blood 5 times now, although haven't for a while now because of piercings and tattoos. (You're not allowed to donate within a certain time after getting a piercing or a tattoo, because of the healing process the body goes through after the trauma of a piercing/tat.) And since I'm going to get another tat tomorrow, I'll have to wait a bit longer to donate.

That being said, I encourage anyone of the right age and of good health to donate blood. It doesn't take much time out of your day (about an hour altogether, with the donation itself taking about 15 min in total), it's not all that painful (just the prick of the needle, and I actually find the hemoglobin test - they prick the end of your finger beforehand and draw a tiny bit of blood to test your iron levels to make sure you're fit to donate - more painful than the actual donation process... more nerves in the fingertips, I guess) and it saves lives. A single donation of your blood can save up to three lives. And just to give you an idea of how much blood is needed on a daily basis...

Cancer treatment requires up to 8 units/week
Heart bypass surgery requires 1-8 units
Car accidents/gunshot wounds require up to 50 units
Liver transplants require up to 100 units
Other organ transplants require up to 10 units
Abdominal surgery requires 2-4 units
Brain aneurysms require 4 units

A person can only donate blood every 56 days, and it's needed every day. Think if it was your mom, dad, brother, uncle, best friend, lying in the hospital in desperate need of blood.

Information on donation can be found on your country's red cross/blood services website... I've found the links for a few:

Canadian Blood Services
UK's National Blood Service
United States Red Cross Blood Donation
Australian Red Cross Blood Service
New Zealand Blood Service
German Red Cross Blood Donation, in German
